Hi! I am looking for a set of tyres with white lettering like BF Goodrich radials or Cooper Cobras... As seen here on my old RA28: ![](http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs144.snc1/5332_234167000514_527340514_8320582_5056020_n.jpg) Anyone know of any alternatives to the BF's/Coopers? I need them in 225/60/R14 and I can't seem to find any in that size! Any advice appreciated as I am having my Celica Supra wheels refurbished and I think a set of this style tyres would set them off a treat for that 80s muscular look haha ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Or just write on them yourself with a white tyre pen.

I have some BF Goodrich Radial TAs on my van, they seem to be a very good tyre, wearing well and reasonable performance (as far as a van can be anyway)

Was looking for some cooper cobras for my mates 'vette the other day, cheapest place i found so far is www.tyrespec.co.uk/products/?pattern=Cobra%20GTit appears they don't have exactly what you want, 215 or 235 though so i guess it depends how flexible you can be.

i wouldn't say no to some 235s! They are 7J rims so should be fine but I don't want to compromise the handling too much!

the selection of 14" tyres has reduced over recent years as most people have at least 15s now.
I reckon 235s on 7" rims on the back of an 80s whip would probably have the right look anyway. 215s should be OK on the front without compromising steering/handling/etc. assuming your wheels are correct offset etc.

I have three spare 235s I took off a set of 14" wellers, they were 7" wide and the tyres looked a little bit fat on them, a look that goes well with fat american rods and custom vans which is what I associate white letter tyres with!

Yeah the wheels are OE Toyota and the tyres are stock sizes which is 225/60/r14 all round. I agree 235 rear, 215 front would probably be ok but I just want to keep it to original spec... I just fancied some white letter tyres cos I think they look good. They seem ££ too so I will probably just roll as is!

Tyre pens work for a while, never had one that stayed looking nice for more than a few weeks, on the other hand the white letter tyres on our 4x4 pickup still look good (when we clean them) and they are nearly on the wear bars now, admittedly its harder to scrape the lettering on kerbs on a tall knobbly tyre.

His edges and lettering look a bit wonky to me, and does it last? I can see the point if you can't buy a white letter tyre in the right size, but if you can and it adds say £20 to the price of the tyre over a similar plain one then he'd have to be going some to beat that price with a finisg that will last the life of the tyre.

i think that lettering on that caddy was one of the first he did, pics below look a lot neater, check his blog for more pics. as for how long it lasts, ive no idea but have heard its quite durable. ![](http://static.pixelpipe.com/3a0083ff-02aa-4f15-ae4e-abe4a9ad41f6_b.jpg) ![](http://static.pixelpipe.com/9c132aa3-6e86-4b1a-b031-7396b0779aaf_b.jpg) ![](http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_n20wPHtJaaA/SmNbyLeab3I/AAAAAAAAAVo/Aijaaf3XFfI/s320/190720092200.jpg)

The bloke across the road from me gets the white/red lines added to his tyres by a mobile bloke. They cut a shallow groove into the tyre with a machine and then fill it in with coloured rubber. It lasts and doesn't flake off or anything, but when he had white ones they got dirty fairly quickly (through roadworks) and were very hard to get clean and white again, then didn't stay clean for long. He now gets them done in red, which don't show the dirt as badly.

His edges and lettering look a bit wonky to me, and does it last? Wonky!!Just the pic ,matey lol The beauty of these raised white letters is that i can add whatever you want to your tyres, your name, cars name, club name, forum or just advertising your business. Oh and yes it does last, i ran the lettered tyres for a long time on my daily with no issues. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Check the blog for pics mrwhitewalls.blogspot.com/thanks ant
