I would not think that having something stock and modern would stop it being vandalised. I am currently using an N reg Seat Ibiza, in black, with steel wheels. Looks stock, but since January I have had to park it on the street, and now have 7 deep scratches on the bonnet, one on the tailgate, one down the nearside wing, door and rear quarter, and one on the offside rear quarter. All of which have gone through to the primer. I think the fact is that there are so many tossers out there that would key your car and worse, not even thinking anything of it. However not only is this really annoying, it also vastly reduces you getting anything near what the car is worth if you should decide to sell it. Really gets me down, cos although the car is a bit curse word, it is my curse word, not theirs. Rant over.

I had an J plate Saab 9000 I picked up down the auctions for £175. I ran that about 9 months and nobody ever touched it. If I ever left the Buick outsidemy house overnight then almost a guarantee somthing would be done to it, even if it was only a kebab lobbed all over the windscreen.
Also I did not really care what happened to the Saab.

True that, cars you couldn't give a sh*t about never get touched. I had a Peugeot 205 diseasel that I bought for £70 - I left it open all night (because the door lock was bust), out on the street, nobody bothered (even vandals have some standards it seems). Leave the Merc or the Volvo out and you can guarantee some sh*tbag will do something, even if it's bending the wing mirror back.

Before I could park the Imp off the street I used to get this sort of thing all the time, one time I stepped outside to find that some b*stard had poured white paint down the side. Now I don't like the brown colour either but that's not the point! ;D More than likely these were the same kids that I had caught in the act trying to nick my mirrors on one occasion, but trying to talk to their parents about it (these kids lived nearby so I knew their parents) was like talking to a brick wall, all either 'Mummy's Little Darling' types who are apparently not capable of that sort of thing or kids of bloody junkies who barely just knew they had kids at all let alone where they were at night, although they didn't touch it again after the parents were told that if my motor got damaged again they'd better hope the police got to their door before I did. The Volvo is an even more dangerous proposition what with it being a limousine, it doesn't matter a jot to them that it's an old unpopular Volvo and as such isn't worth anything, or that even if it was worth a lot it wouldn't be an excuse for them to damage it, anyone who has a car like that must be a "pure snobby basturt" and as such deserves to have their car wrecked according to the local neds and their communal two brain cells to rub together. The result is that the Volvo doesn't get left in the East end unless it's in my garden where they won't get at it (and even then it might still get damaged, the local neds also love to throw stuff over hedges so it's not unusal to find the garden full of empty cans of Tennants and broken Smirnoff bottles on a saturday/sunday/monday morning as a result of the night before, and if there are any motors within range they get covered in them too!

Sorry to hear about that I've got a '76' topper and expect it to be gone everytime I walk out the door in the morning! I also saw some lowlife drive past my car the other day with his window open and spit on my bonnet

someone once went for the '76' topper from my bug - along with half the aerial. although they must have panicked when the aerial snapped and left it dangling, still with topper (which was superglued on anyway).
since i've moved to my current place though, i've not even had as much as a globule of spit on any of my cars. this is surprising since i live in one of the worst areas in the county - an area once highlighted in FHM (or maybe Loaded) as a crime hotspot! it seems scum don't sh't on their own doorstep.....

I used to have a 76 ball on my car, until one day I came back to the car when it was parked in a multi-storey car park to find the ball gone. The annoying thing was, because of the position of my aerial and the curve of the car, you couldn't reach the ball unless you're about 7ft tall. The grubby footprint and dent left on my back wing pretty much confirmed that the thief was obviously your bog standand height traveller.
I'm not quite in agreement with curse word cars not getting targeted as well though. Before my missus got her new car she had a cackpile diesel metro with added rust. The sort of car you'd have to beg the scrapman to take. Some curse word (we know who they were and they've since recieved a good kicking) forced the door open and hotwired the thing. Ironically they drove it about 20 ft before realising just how curse word it was, then left it there! ;D

minion and others in da house: his window open and spit on my bonnet - have 7 deep scratches on the bonnet - Some kid spat at the windscreen
What a sh*t way of treating others stuff!!! You guys must hate all this going on, not beeing able to park without geting your ride damaged, stolen or picked to pieces, that sucks big time!!!!
Since moving out in the country from Stockholm 3 years ago I have never locked my car athome or at work, most of the time I leave the keys in it when parked at the house, the Tractor has no key, the only thing I'm really carefull locking and I even have an alarm is my workshop & The Flying 8-ball Bar since there's a small fortune in bikes, wine & grappa out there, otherwise the house & barn has no alarm and I even have a old "ladies bicycle" at the train station, it's been unlocked and never touched for 2 years now.....
DP says: The reason I left LA was beeing robbed 3 times and having 4 cars stolen the last 3 years there....

goaferboy in da house: keys left IN the car unattended?!Yeah it makes it easier to leave in the morning, no looking around for car keyes.... I guess I have to add that I live way out in the sticks, I have 4 neighbours in a 5km area and those who drive up are all people I know, never had an uninvited guest, well the dude with a Street Race Big Block 69 Chevelle & 72 Corvette next farm over usually takes his bicyle as soon as he hears the sound of my crew www.skitskrajmc.com rolling up at the house.... DP says: Stockholm is almost as bad as you guys describe......

At the old house, we were watching a DVD and we heard a commotion outside. So I went upstairs to peer out the window (never look out the downstaris window unless you want them bricking your windows). Saw a gang of about 9 yobbos tear down next door neighbours front garden wall and lob the rubble through the windows of the guy the other sides' Astra. Damn glad they were going down the hill not up it or mine would have been done...
Young scrotes pick on anything which is either in very good nick or is "an old banger". Its almost like you are offending them by driving something they don't regard as desirable. Theres a lad who lived up by my old house has a "modded" Civic and its never been touched cs the chavvo scum think its nice. Yet they kicked all the doors in on an old lady's Triumph Acclaim on the same street.
Oh, and this was one of the more desirable parts of town to live in.
Thing is when I moved there in 1994 you could litterally leave your keys in the front door all day when you were out at work (I did that twice by acccident LOL) and it was quiet as you like. Just nice neighours to chat to as they walked past and you were working on the car etc. Then it all just went to sh**. Mostly due to drunken behaviour late at night and chav kids walking about the area in the day.
I live out of town now and its sooooooo quiet. Hope it stays that way.
