Many yrs ago I was stopped as I drove in a very modified car in Southend.Just a routine stop ,with a 7 day producer. Took all the paperwork to my local police station . They spotted that the cover note I had was written incorrectly! So technically I wasnt insured when stopped. I phoned the broker, who admittsd the error but wouldnt send me the correct ly dated replacement as they found that when I paid the premium I Had wrongly written the cheque ,by exactly one pound!By the time this was all sorted and the police had the correct document a summons was issued at Southend Court. On the day of the hearing I phoned to explain the prob. and everyone agreed that this should not have gone to court. BUT cos I didnt appear(i was self employed and couldnt afford the time to go) they set a new date. At said date ,I phoned again and again I explained ,and everyone agreed ,but it was hard to get the summons revoked , The court usher said he would sort it with the magistrates. This repeated itself about twice more at new hearing dates ,until I finally got a letter saying the thing had been forgotten! All for the sake of £1!

My insurance story? Bit more mundane.
For my '05 Picasso (Yeah, I know it's not a classic . . . yet)
£500 and change. I keep my nose clean, no accidents, tap up another years no-claims and to re-insure with the same people . . . well over £800. What's the point of a no-claims bonus if it'll go up anyway?
"Well without the no-claims it'd be even more expensive." I don't want to hear "More Expensive" at all. We have no-claims bonus to drive down the cost for insurance, so what do we do if no-claims fails us?
And people wonder why insurance fraud happens. It's not ripping off the insurance companies . . . it's revenge.

I also have a insurnace story involving southend/basildon/essex courts. I got stopped driving my satin black b4 passat out of southend on the usual a127 traffic light checkpoint they like to set up every f-king week. my insurance wasnt showing on the system as I had a trade policy with DNA insurance. they are total cowboys(i actually ended up cancelling the policy I had with them at quite a bit of expense to me rather than loose my licence through their neglegence). despite me emailing the cars details through 3 times for them to add it to my policy as a car I was keeping for more than 14 days, they never bothered. I got a producer same as you. I produced at colchester. they lost the statement. it went to southend magistrates courts. I did not have to appear in person, just submit my statement of defence with a copy of my insurance with it. despite me posting it by recorded delivery 10 days before the hearing (they only actually gave me 11 days notice of the hearing) it didnt turn up until the day after the hearing due to postal strikes. I was found quilty in my abscence. I appealed at magestrates level, including resubmitting all forms including the copy of my insurance, as again it was a hearing in abscence. this evidence wasnt even presented to the court and I was denied right to appeal. I then appealed to CROWN court, including all evidience in triplicate again, and I was granted right to appeal at CROWN court level. I would have to appear in person at basildon CROWN court to present my defence, with original copies of all policy documents. by this point I was thoroughly intoxicated off, so I then wrote a really curse word letter to the essex chief justice/whatever the appropriate job title is these days, outlining that everyone who works within the judicial system in essex is a total bellend, includung the names of eveyone id spoke to on the phone and corresponded with, and the levels of incopetence were beyond belief as I had provided no less than 12 copies of my insurance during the whole palaver, and I would be counter claiming against them when I was found innocent for my time at £25p/h and my travel expenses at 12mpg as I drive a large engined high performance car(bearing in mind my home address was still over 200 miles away in doncaster at the time, and thats where the car was registered to), and I had forwarded copies of all corresponence to the local newpaper and news channels to see if they were interested in how incompetent those involved with the local justice system were. all charges were dropped the day after he/she/they received the letter

as I'm in before the bin, i'll indulge myself.
Couple of weeks ago, insured the mini with endsleigh, as i needed cover quick and they were the cheapest of those that were open. declared all mods etc. they asked about locking nuts on the alloys. I said no, but will be in a week.
week later a email them to say locking nuts now fitted. they said thanks, thats £20 please. a lot of arguing insued but they insisted that all adjustments to the policy result in a £20 admin fee. being within my 14 day cooling off period I promplty cancelled it and got a much better deal with brentacre.

What's the problem dude? It's retro related isn't it? I'm finding it a lot more interesting reading than a bunch of random google images off the net.
