Ciao Japfreaks....
My dad was always a car nut, he has had some real nice cars all of my life and in 1993 he decided to change from driving Opels to a Japanese car, this was a big step for him but, as he always did when buying cars he brought a cashiers check for the full amount If you cant afford to cash it, you can't afford to buy it and had them remove all dealer ad stickers on the car before delivery. The car he had decided to buy was a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 1, he wanted a silver but there were only red cars available in Sweden so he had to live with that. Sadly my dad did only got to drive the car for a year when he got a stroke and his drivers license was revoked but ever since my mom (now 75) has driven the car, she never liked it, the seats are hard, the suspension bumpy, it's noicy, etc. My dad passed early 2000 and my mom has since been talking about getting another car but since she don't drive it much and did not feel a need it has been used by her picking up groceries once a week and going to the doctors office every now and then. I have to say that my mom is a verry peppie and happy 75 year old lady, she has lately starting to see a new man and she & and an old friend from school has bought a seaside house in the southern part of Sweden so now she needs a car that's easy to get in and out of, smaller but taller and not so expensive to insure!?!?!?!
Today we are going to a Mercedes dealer and picking up a 05 3 door A-class demo loaded with everything including navigator etc and not paying one cent, she's actually geting some money inbetween, a guy at Mercedes HQ is a car collector, the EVO 1 has only 60.000km and is driven by "a little old lady" so he flipped when he found out that someone wanted to trade in a mint 93 Lancer Evo 1 at a local dealership...
I have used the car every now and the to "blow it out" but as my mom I'm not that impressed with it, major "ketchup effect" and bumpy & creaky, sure I'm sad to see it go but she got something she needed and wanted so I'm really happy about that for her and I will miss it mostly because it reminds me of my dad who I miss almost every day, I really loved that man.....
No pix of her car but I'll see if I can get a camera and shot some last shots of it when we dropp it off. Same as this but red.....
