Short notice I know but I just discovered that there's a J car meeting - Toyota Owners Club primarily I think - at Boxhill tomorrow Saturday 25th lunchtime. I'll take the Datsun down there and hang around looking out of place amongst the Supras, Celicas and MR2s.
Anybody fancy joining me? I'll be there in the little red X registration red Datsun coupe.

The majority of stuff tends to be under 15 year old (which is why I've virtually given up on the Toyota Owners club forum although I must say the people are extremely helpful and friendly . However ALL 'J-Tin' I believe will be welcome.

I'll take pictures. Yes I'm slightly worried that it'll be all modern. Maybe I can get some pics of the Datsun looking slightly forlorn surrounded by massive turbos, Greddy stickers and Blitz Blow Off Valves, whatever they are.
I really want that Toyota RA28 that's on Ebay at the moment.

I popped down to the Japanese meet that they held every month in Bluewater in the Cressy. It [my car] certainly appeared to be completely invisible - as did I .

I went to a Skyline show at Gaydon a few years ago in the 240K and got pretty much ignored, probably due to lack of HKS, Blitz etc bits and exhaust being far too small. Still, Mrs Spottedlaurel didn’t mind as we went to a garden in the Cotswolds instead for the afternoon.

I went, had my left eardrum perforated by an RX7 trying to do a burnout and had a heart attack burger from the least efficient cafe in Surrey. The RX7 had the loudest engine I've heard for a while. I like seeing good engines but I can't get excited about Max Power / Redline mobiles. There were a few cool cars - the yellow Pulsar GTIR I liked, silver Micra with a turbo engine, red Nissan S12 stripped out and with stupid over the top racing bucket seats. A few Skylines and 200SXs looked good too but when you see a Skyline (which I like) covered in silver stickers that cover every panel you have to question the stick-on mentality that seems to revel in body kits, silly paint, engine lunacy, and curse word stickers! Rant over. I met Reece who's an inspiration to me at the moment. He has a cool but rough Datsun Sunny with a 1.8 Nissan turbo engine in it. It has the right stance, rough edges and power. His car is the opposite to everything in the car park today. Also there was Mark who owns the nice original blue 70s Skyline in the link above - it's very cute. My poor Datsun was feeling a bit left out. When I arrived there was no car park space so I parked it on the road. Every time a Subaru or Skyline razzed passed it it's alarm went off. I saw it as a cry for help. Pics: Mine: Marks:
