looking at an auction list for garage equipment and they have this listed: (1986) Skoda '130' Sport, reg. no. D325 ANH. (Very rare, official Skoda distributor, Skoda 130 Sport conversion from new, Hipberry Red, restoration project) What is a skoda 130 sport? is it rare? checking the dvla website says it was last taxed in 95.. it interests me..... Mike

I'm not a mega expert, but I reckon they're like poor quality wobbly children's play pony poo.
Light-weight shell I believe. Even if it's mildly fugged, it's gotta be £500-worth some Skoda anourak officianado. Snap it up, pronto!

Not heard of a 130 Sport - maybe they're refering to the 130 Rapid: ?

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people I don't like.

No, they're deffo a 4-door. I remember 'Autocar' or similar ranting about them being ludicrous fun back when they were launched. Most were supplied in retina-burning orange IIRC, and featured a naff bodykit... Where's WapidWob when you need him, huh?

OK, Sport cars had about 90brake. They were normally fitted with body kits, and Estelles had the factory style birdbath rear spoiler. The 130 estelle had the 5 port iron head and I think either one Weber or Dellorto sidedraft carb, a lumpier cam and different gearing plus a free flowing exhaust and minilites with wider lower profile tyres + a sports mountney steering wheel and some trim changes. Sport Rapids had the 136 alloy headed 8 port engine and a pair of Webers or Dellortos but pretty much the same spec otherwise. Iron heads need LRP/4 star/lead substitute. Alloy heads are basically the same as Favorits/Felicias and can run unleaded.
Quite a bit nippier than the already good fun car.
As it happens, all 130 Estelle shells were a better class than the lower models. They all came out of the same build shed at the factory as the 130LR Group B cars. The Sport kitted models were to play on the sporting heritage.
They were never built as Sports by Skoda. they would be bought from a dealer as standard 130LSE or GL models, delivered to Skosports who converted them, then delivered back to the dealer for the punter to pick up. Bit like Abarth, Brabus or Ruf, factroy approved, but external tuning kit supplied only when the car was new.

Was the Rabid Ric not called a sport. The lightweight shell was a four door but I didnt think they were called sports. I thought theey were just some type of base model didnt someone on here buy one not so long back. IIRC should be in readers rides about two month ago

I thought the RiC was just the last-of-the-line Rapids fitted with Bosch Mono-Jet F.I.? Could be mistaken though... Either way, you should buy it before some muppet cuts it up for yet another Banham....

The Ric was the last of the line 136 rapids with I think bendix injection but I think they were called sports. I think they also gained another hp and lasted about a week

The RiC wasn't technically the last of the rapids - there was some overlap with the 136 carbs til the end afaik.
I've heard that the RiC got sold in the UK because they were initially made for a country (canada?!) with stricter emissoin regulations, but the order got cancelled and they were sold here. It was also the 135 lower compression engine.
They did indeed have Bendix injection I think.. they were also lower on power than the 136 carb. Something like 54bhp vs 62bhp for the carb - from memory.
The 130 sport is much earlier than the later alloy head cars... that car needs to be snapped up!

You could get it in the 4 door as well. Some of them actually did make it over here. Saw one a few years ago at a wrecker in British Columbia. Didn't realize the signifigance of the thing at the time.

Yup there were some weird 125 injection Estelles that were meant for Canada but got diverted to Finland or Something. Sport models had big carbs and free flow exhausts. RiC Rapids used Bendix/Fenix injection and had a CAT and Lambda. Sport body kits and wheels turn up a lot but the engines don't, and the exhausts rotted just like the normal ones.

and the exhausts rotted just like the normal ones. Yeah but you can pick up a Rapid / Estelle zorst for about 30 notes, can you not? I felt sure the 135's had Bosch Monojetronic... maybe I'm mistooken.... Buy it! Can't be many left!

staying at daverapid's atm, back home tomorrow, but saw this thread and couldn't resist! the RiC, called the Rapid 135 RiC, used the injection system that skoda developed towards the end of the Rapid life line and sold for the last 1 or 2 years along side the 136 (carb) Rapid's. the RiC was seen to be the top model although quite a few have now been converted back to carb's. They weren't the Sports though. The 130 Sport mentioned for sale is an Estelle, sold between 88-90(ish). It's the 4 door with the steel head, aftermarket carb, exhaust, cam, ported head, different ignition too i think. Most, but not all, have 13" minilittes with lower profile tyres, body kit and 130LR wing (as mentioned earlier). As mentioned also a Sport engine is mega-rare and needs buying. the whole car will be quite rare so it needs to be bought. i would like to see some pics too, where is the car? well, anyway, i'm going back into the backround now until tomorrow when i get back home and can tell you all about my trip to Poland and the Nysa (remember that?). Hope that helps.

Yes you can but that is either the standard Pea shooter or the Butts of Bawtry "Sports" exhaust. Which is a peas shooter with a slightly bigger bore, worse paint and a cheap chrome tail pipe. the chrome burns off within 20 minutes of the exhaust geting hot. If you want proper tuning parts then contact Skofast. It is is run by John Shelley, owner of one of Hauglands 130LR cars from the rally of Ulster in the 80's. What tends to happen is, John comes over, tells all the poeple who are interested in stuff where he will be (usually a Skoda event or an Eastern europe car club event like Stanford hall), he brings over what people want. He takes the money you take the kit. If you don't turn up and he doesn't know you previously, he doesn't do business with you again as he has to lug back what you wanted or find someone else to buy it as he will be out of pocket. Which is fair. If you get known among the owners though, messages usually get passed on if you can't make it and someone else pays for it for you. Very friendly bunch. And John has contacts with all the Czech small engineering firms that used to form the old Skoda Motorsport division when it was a totally Czech enterprise. So the full width Group B exhausts, tubular exhaust manifolds, and works style harder engine mounts are available as well as what is on his site, plus sometimes pre-formed body repair panels for common rot parts. BTW, the sport models were a UK only concept.

BTW, Skoda.panda.cz is a wealth of mechanical knowledge, shame it is only in CZ. But the galleries are worth a look, especially the "tuning" event ones.
