Anyone got any more specs on the Lexus V8 as I'm considering one...
As NickB says, its a blinding concept but iits a lot lot lot of work.
I'm also interested you think you can do it in 12 months. This either means you are a well motivated achiver and know what you're doing or it means you have guessed 'cos 12 months sounds like a long time and you have no idea what you're doing! I don't know you well enough. I know it would take me 3-4 years to do this scale of project.

V8 Shuv will need some serious reinforcement.. the torque will twist the shell something rotten.. Would seam welding and a cage be enough to stop it gradually splitting it's sills? Would be awesome if you did it though

Yay for insanely ambitious projects! Sounds an awesome piece of machinery if you could get it all together. One thing's for sure - you'll have more than enough support from fellow RR members to keep you ticking along.

As I said in the opening post, I was daydreaming but it's something that I could make a reality.
I can devote 20 hours a week minimum (usually more) and have two rather good qualities: I'm ambitious and stubborn.
Moneywise, I can deal with £5-8k over a year but would aim to be well below this.
I'm of the "plan, plan, plan, measure twice, cut once on a test piece, remeasure, change plan if necessary and only cut once on the real thing if I'm 100% on it" persuasion.
HTW - seam welding and a multipoint cage (fully swaged to the shell) should be enough...I'd keep a close eye on it and reinforce everywhere I could.
First things force - a place to do it...

Yea - forgot about that. AGL1K, the Cossie dolly, had to be fully seam welded and caged as the torque was ripping the panels off and twisting the rails!

How odd, I had a chevy V8 in a Victor and it didn't bother it. And thats getting towards "serious" torque. A guy I know had a big block Chevy on nitrous in one and that was all stock body but with the rear doors welded up and although it would twist a bit with a full power launch at the pod it never suffered any harm by it. Although it was caged and back halfed.

I suppose each method has its place ;D

12 Months goes by a lot faster than i'd like, and life usually happens while i'm planning it. sounds like an idea. I imagine this started with those beastly wheels! Well anythings possible, just don't overlook the options (other V8, Xe, cossie etc) is all i'd say.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts
