Mk3? If you cut them to short the back ones will fall out all the time, they need wiring in really well and the front ones will let the car hit the bumpstops hard under braking and curse word up your stopping distance. The front ones are a pain in the ![](http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/underwire/2009/11/fox_60.jpg) to get out as well.

yeah so do I, the front ones will still be a pain in the ![](http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/underwire/2009/11/fox_60.jpg) , theres not enough room to get the compressors on enough coils, its not impossible, it took me 4 hours to swop the front springs last time i did it by myself and Ive done it before. to be honest without knowing what your curent spring rate is its impossible to know what to chop off and with uprated ones only being 30 quid a pair i usually just buy them, you could try taking two coils off and see what happens. These two look the same length, ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/popuptoaster/ratty%20the%20cortina/DSCF0002-3.jpg) but one gives this, ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/popuptoaster/ratty%20the%20cortina/DSCF0003-1.jpg) and one gives this, ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/popuptoaster/ratty%20the%20cortina/DSCF0004-1.jpg) and its stopped and steered much better when it was higher.

If you are near London i have 2 Mk3 chopped front spings and standard Mk5 rears, they drop the car the same as the minus 2 inch spax kit i just fitted (Mk5's sit 2 inches lower as standard on the rear) pluss you still get a decent ride cos Mk5 springs are progressive ;D If your near and wanna collect free i'm 1/2 a mile from J25 M25 ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

you will find that with the uprated and lowered -2"springs ie 275lb(blue rally design ones) your car will probably sit higher i've always ended up cutting the lowering spring in the end to get the car down general rule of thumb with the cortinas stock springs is 1.5 coils out the front 2 out the rears uprated and lowered-2" require 1 coil out of each that should leave then just low enough to not need to wire them . if you get stuck i have a pair of 275lb rears already cut they gave this ride hight
