rightoo. those of you who have been following on my czech wrecks thread will have seen the progress of my little herald. now though I finally feel it is at a state which I can show it in the rides section without dying of shame. so here it is in all of its farm found dirty glory. now for spec. mk 4 spitfire 1300 twin carb engine. mk 4 spitfire gearbox mk 3 gt6 stainless steel sports exhaust mk 3 gt6 front suspension and disk brakes mk 4 spit fire rear suspension wolfrace slot mag alloys I want to lower it a couple of inches but I am probably going to wait till after the trip to republic of czech to do that.

Looks fun, a few questions though, why do you want a MkIV 1300 engine? you'd be better off with the earlier MkIII engine, with it's smaller crank journals or if you want more torque instead of revs, the 1500 engine.
A guy a was speaking to last night from Builth was considering selling a complete GT6/Vitesse front suspension and discs. I can pass on details if you are interested.

I fitted an 1850 Dolomite engine into my old Herald - was quite easy to do too! Gotta lotta love for old Trumps. Cool car and would look great 3 inches lower.

it is the early mk 4 so the original block bored out to its maximum. aka before they beefed it up to withstand the 1500. so i beleive it is the one you are talking about. already got the gt6 suspension and brakes all put on and done. i think later on in its life it will get a vitesse engine swap but thats at least 6 months away i would think.

Sorry, I mis-read. FD or GE prefix engine number on the block? that's the one to go for.

so iv put an alternator in it. and it has good voltage across the points of the alternator (13.5 volts). why isnt it charging???
any idea?
the electric box is a little dirty so i might take that out and clean up all the points and have a look inside if i can.
i know a few of you on here have herald and was just wondering if this happens to any one else?

If the output of the alternator is 13.5volts, the alternator is working. What makes you think it is not charging? Surely the electric box is the voltage regulator for the dynamo and is not needed when using an alternator as the regulator is in the alternator body?
