Decided to bin the rubbish cordless doorbell (which I could only ever here if I was in a certain place in the yard anyway, and that's when it decided to actually chime) Decided I needed something really loud mounted outdoors so it could be heard anywhere in the yard, even with earmuffs, angle grinder, music, whatever.  Ingredients list. Bellpush, Nissan relay, fuse, car battery, musical airhorns. Result: I just heard La Cucuracha echoing accross the fields and neighbouring farms. I rekon I could hear this doorbell in the next village! |

I'll get a vid of the tune tomorrow. Its a really old set of horns, proper bolted together cast aluminium based horn drivers, (adjustable too) and they're in perfect tune, they sound SWEEET unlike the cheap plastic modern ones which make me cringe because the tuning is way off.

I had my house rewired a few years ago. The electrician put a new bell in. Can hardly hear it. Even though its on the wall beside the living room door. Thats a good thing as the local kids are a menace for playing chickenelly. They can press it all the like, no ones going to hear it.  |
