Inspirational, I need to get on with trim hole filling on the Volvo. I see you've filled the trim holes around the rear window, did you weld them up first or just fill them? I did an arch on the Volvo that someone had knocked in a car park, each time I stood back after primer, I saw a bit that wasn't 100%. I can't leave it like that because I'll always see it then. It's got to be perfect otherwise it'll always be wrong, but with the amount you've got to do, you'd be forgiven for getting it close enough!
Great work, I can't wait to see it painted, and for warmer weather - I have to do mine outside......too cold at the moment!

its strictly "close enough" I'm afraid. Thing is I was just going to reunderseal it and be away with it as thet, but now I look at the crusty bits underneath and want to get them blasted and powder coated and do this and do that. Its knowing when to stop I guess.
We sat and looked at those trim holes and poked them and prodded them and my mate who is a professional metalworker pronounced them to be "far better filled than welded". I wanted to weld them but he was adamant not to. I filled them on a Cortina I did ages ago an there was no problem so I went with the filling option. The thing to do is knock the holes concanve about 1-2 mm so you can build up the filer in the dish or sit doesn't work and you'll see the trim holes no matter how good you think you sanded the filler flat.

Well, just been concentrating on the front drivers wing tonight. Just getting the badges off (In one piece!) was quite a PITA job. But its about sorted now. Found more dings which were hidden by the badges, just to the left in the photo of the mounting pin holes you can see the dimples of a couple of irritating dings. I'll fill them, too broad and shallow to mess about bumping them, that'll only make them worse...

Did some more over the weekend, not much mostly due to being hung over Front end is about stripped Stone chipping and other misc problems about sorted on the passenger front wing. Just needs a spot of filler in a couple of dinged areas and I have a high spot i might hammer down to be sure. I got the scuttle top off and luckily all is sound in there And I got the passenger side splash guard out, with a grinder All seems sound behind there, just a little surface rust to deal with really. Same cannot be said for the splash guard, which like the driver side one is rotten. Luckily I have a pair of good ones to go on.
