Ciao Retroisti....
Once again a new toy has moved into the DP Race Tech Shop, yesterday a friend came over and dumped a complete 1984 Yamaha YZ125 Moto-X bike in 3 big crates in the shop, everything seems to be there and the motor has recently been rebuilt with new bearings, con rod, piston & rings, cluch and the cylinder bored and finished so it's basicaly a bolt together but you all know me and this bike will get a twist, a seriuos twist....
Since it's got wheels that looks like the number 8 and I have a set of 17" Super Moto wheels in a corner they will be used but the bike has drumbrakes front & rear so this is where it all goes insane!!!! The bike will be used as a "wheelie trainer" so the front wheel will go on without brakes, to much work fitting a caliper bracket or relacing the rims. The front brake handle will be connected to a disc brake on the rear wheel (this way you can stand on the pegs or seat and be able to controll the rear brake, cool ehh??), easy conversion and it will get BMX "pegs" on the front & rear axles. The rims will be fitted with Bridgestone Slicks from our Aprilia RSW 250 Racers. All of it will be painted black and Acerbis Super Moto front fenders will be used front & rear (!?!?!) for a different look.....
Sadly it will never look as good as this Japanese 100 point restoration.....
.....but it will both fun & different, I promiss ya all that....
DP says: Sure not Retro car but Retro toy.......
