I need to put a new exhaust on Gladys. The system has a 2 pipe input one pipe output silencer, then straight pipe with secondary silencer. Getting the main silencer made in stainless is going to be expensive and it doesn't need replacing. So what would you do. A = Bodge it with scaffold pipe B = New mild steel system from main silencer back cost €70 + postage C = Stainless from rear of main silencer cost £180 D = Stainless full system cost a whopping £270 Paul

It's only got two cylinders. Silencers are for pussies.

B - cheapest option that's not a huge bodge, put stainless on in 3 years time (when you have finished uni and can afford it...)
|
|
To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

What the man above said - B (or a, but use proper exhaust pipe not scaffold)

B wouldn't be a bodge at all really as the main silencer is good and silencing well. As are the down pipes. Thats stock parts imported from a speicialist in the netherlands. I like the idea of putting stainless on her but think it might be overkill. Got a message from the previous owner telling me that the brackets and fixings are stainless.

It's only got two cylinders. Silencers are for pussies. ;D DAF with no rear silencer. I think its a wee bit louder. Specially as you sit at high revs a lot with the vario.
