Has anyone come across one of these short glass fuses before? I could do with a 4 amp one for the Rambler... the US spares place I use couldn't help me. I wondered if anyone had come across them used on another car?

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

cant you go get a modern fusebox from a newer car and rewire it in?
I'm planning this, although, i remember seeing in classic ford somewhere that sold a standard escort fusebox but with modern fuses? anyone got any ideas?

Yes! Appear to be same size as what WAS on my 1981 Yamaha XJ550. I say 'was' because about 8 year ago I found I could no longer get them and the fuse box was braking up/corroding so I replaced the whole unit with a modern blade fuse box set up. You might like to try a motorcycle dealer but I think you will come to a 'dead end' as I did.

Never seen fuses like that on a yank car. I had a Rambler similar age to yours and I have an Oldsmobile.
I suspect someone used that to replace the fusible links somewhere in the car and it was what they had handy

It's a bit of a strange set-up, there is this short fuse, one standard length glass fuse and 3 slightly shorter ones... the holders have little tags on the spring clips that the fuses fit between, so longer ones don't really fit properly, and they nearly touch... someone had fitted a 13 amp plug fuse in one of them... (and the fuse in the photo has had a piece of wire soldered across it...

Maplins (best bet, shop online) or RS Components (trade only).

As wagoneer says maplins or RS. I have some 20mm fuses like that but no 15`s. You should be able to order those from CEF (city electrical factors) as well thats where I normally get mine from.
