Hi all, I want to let everbody know about a planned classic/retro car gathering being held in Warwick town centre, 22nd August 2010. Based on the success of the Austin Healey 3000 concours event that was held in the town centre Market Place in 2009, I approached the Town Centre Manager about a regular classic/retro show in the town. He thought it was a great idea and we have a date set for August this year. The show will be a pretty informal affair, just turn up, park and enjoy the town and its attractions. All we ask is that cars are parked up for a good 3-4 hours to avoid too much movement. If you don't know about Warwick, it has one of the UK's largest castles (www.warwick-castle.co.uk) as well as museums, plenty of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, located about 5mins from junction 15 M40, 12 miles south of Coventry. The Market Square is a great venue for a show with the pubs, cafes right on site. It can hold approximately 50 cars. In the Square is a Lloyds pub serving food all day, 2 other pubs, restaurants etc Further info can be found at:- www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/group.php?gid=362981647745 www.visitwarwick.co.uk/Please pm me if you want further info. Cheers Matt

Just joined the Facebook group, this sounds like a winner. I'll be there with camera in hand even if I've nothing decent to come in.

Quick update that this is definitely happening. I met with the Town Centre Manager last week to sort out some details and get posters and flyers printed.

I'm out on a road rally in Herefordshire the night before so will be conspicuous by my absence I'm afraid.

Just a quick update. I've been out and about flyering retro cars in the local area. Certain plenty of classic tin to fill the available space just in the town. I've also been visiting a few of the local businesses that dabble or own classics:- - Warringtons of Warwick -local family run Bosch garage who are usually have classic cars in. The owners have hot rods IIRC. - JME healeys - local healey specialist - Outermotive classic VW workshop and camper van hire - Autowagen VW specialist - Techcraft Motorsport - Underwoods wine merchants (they have classics on display in their warehouse....) Have got a few more to go.... Have pic of the market place Matt

Cheers for the reminder Matt, looking forward to this and only popped into this section to remind myself when it was. Now written into the 'His, Hers and Theirs' diary . . . which means it's a guaranteed event now as far as the 2fster's are concerned! I work in Leamington so if you've got any places you want me to hit with flyers let me know and I'll see what I can do. Noticed a few garages that appeared to be retro-friendly when I did the route from my colleague's gaff in Warwick Gates to the office t'other day.
