Righto seeing as i'm having the wheels on my car re-done in Olympic blue, and there are a few orange bits on it i'm thinking about doing a Gulf stripe. The car looks like this The logo i've designed looks like this I'd put it on the right hand side of the bonnet then run the stripes the full length of the car. Any thoughts/opinions/critiscism/improvements? Matt

Seeing as Olympic Blue is one of my favorite car-colours (tho usually on old Fords) & I love the combination of black & orange (see sig ) this is definitely gonna get a big thumbs up from me! The logo looks a bit squiffy but I'm guessing it's a rough draft at this stage..? Anyway, dooo iiiitt!

Does the air-intake doo dah on the front wing (if that's what it is?) have to stay red? If that could disappear into matching blackness or be highlighted in matching blue or orangeness that'd be much better imo

It's going black when i've chopped the rim down so it doesn't stick out so far.

Nice idea, will look good. I think the logo would look better if the stripe was separate from the gulf circle, and the gulf was in white, like this,

That does look better. Best get down the vinyl shop and buy some offcuts for masking lol.

Personally I would go for: Here's a pretty rough Gimp chop of how it might look: I kind of got bored before I could extend the stripes over the roof ;D

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

It's a no vote from me for the Gulf idea. Personally I think some subtle pinstriping, window stickers or badges in the orange and blue would set it off without over-doing it.

Air intake - I had a similar thing on my Porsche 924, in the end I got a loudspeaker plastic port from Maplins and used that instead as was flush, and less red. Like this but without the mesh:

Gotta say that I don't think it'll work with the black. What about some JPS decals?

Depends if you want it to be original at all or just know what you like.
When I eventually own a hotrod, it WILL be satin black, and when I own a pickup it WILL be 'minitrickin'-d... But then again I don't care about being groundbreaking or original, just build what I like the look of. If I accidentally do something fresh then so be it!
I wouldn't have gulf on it personally as its a bit 'VAG by numbers'...but it aint my car!

Your car is not 'epic', this thread is not 'epic'....the OCEAN is epic, the UNIVERSE is epic.... please stop misusing this word!! It would appear Hotrods are the new VWs - aint fashion funny! '69 BUICK LESABRE 350

i quite like the 'john player' lotus style stickers idea, there is a link with the lotus carlton and gold always works for me against black [then i do like my retro stripes/decals etc]

yes ,it started badly ,petered off in the middle and the least said about the end the better!!!

The wheels are definetley going to be olympic blue so gold wouldn't work. I'm gonna go with the Gulf logo but just a pinstriped outline with no solid colour I think.
I'd go for a different livery but I can't think of anything that has light blue and orange as a logo lol
