Sadly I have to say goodbye to my first project bike.
It's a 1988 GT550 F4 and has done just under 34,000. Bought it as an mot failure for a few hundred quid and had the intentions of making a baby streetfighter with my old man. Actually knew the gentleman who owned it before, close family friend, took very good care of this bike.
Unfortunately just after Christmas we lost the old boy so the bike has slowly ground to a halt. He was 'Project manager' so to speak so me and my younger brother are left with a semi finished project.
The bike.
How I bought it.
Old exhausts, just before side panels were painted.
The lightweight exhausts
As it is now.
I've chopped 3-4 inches off of the rear.
I have fitted new handlebar risers and handlebars.
New micro indicators front and rear.
Ducati 700 Superlight exhausts (Sounds like the end of the world even with custom baffles).
New petrol tap innards.
New oil and air filters.
New high tension leads and plugs.
New custom seat.
Sourced some original rear shocks.
Repainted both wheels, engine block, foot peg hangers, tank.
What it failed on.
The bike failed its last MOT on aim of front headlight and binding front brake. 'Less than an hours work' I was told.
What it needs.
New headlight brackets, £15, to correct the above MOT failure.
New fork dust seals, £15ish again.
Has been sat since mid January so needs a little bit of tlc but nothing a weekend can't fix.
Got all reciepts from what I've spent on it and also the V5 and some bits and bobs etc.
I'm looking for £400-500, make me an offer. Has to be gone as soon as possible because I'm moving to the city with no garage space !
