One of the best 'tuned' classics ive seen, not usually a fan of modified classics, but saw this in the new edition of TriumphWorld, looks mint Black, Black Alloys, Black Windows ;D Looks like a mix of the stag, Aston V8 vantage and the Devil

There was a full feature in Classic and Sportscar a while ago. It is a dream of mine to get it to a Gathering one year... maybe next, got a lot on for this year

My Dad has owned a Stag for many years and those pictures were in a book he owns. I remember pouring over them as a young lad and begging my Dad to do something similar to his. Alas he never did.

Thats a beast, would still say it needs wider wheels though. I've always assumed that everybody on here enjoys standard classics, but enjoy modified classics more :-)

the tickford used the standard v8 with a holley from memory. having said that i'm not a hater of the 3.0l stag lump. there are a few 32valve stags been built, using Saab heads as sprints for some reason don't really work on 1850 based blocks.
I think based on tickfords turb conversions an essex twin turbo would be a better lump to fit in the gorgeous stag shell

w210 - I've never seen a 32 valve Stag although they've always been rumoured. The Dolomite 1850, Sprint and TR7 engine blocks can all be interchanged. The only difference between the blocks is a minor bore size difference (and thus pistons), and that the early series casting has a smaller water outlet from the water pump area to the cylinder head face. The later series blocks also have larger water jackets around the cylinders It was always rumoured that Triumph had cast a mirrored Sprint head and modified the front end of the Stag engine to accept a duplex chain, and run a few 300BHP+ dyno pulls - but I've never seen any pictures or concrete info. I don't think Saab 16v heads fit on a Sprint block at all, but I must confess I've never looked Whilst the engines are vaguely related, by that point the Saab engine didn't have much in common with its Ricardo heritage anymore - that pretty much died entirely when it became 16 valve. You can't fit a Sprint (or Saab) head to the offside of the Stag block as obviously it's canted the wrong way, and the ports are back-to-front. You could machine the cam drive end off it though, reverse it, then re-weld it all up and find some way to drive the cam, that might work. People have talked about it but again, I've never seen it done! Would love to though, if it has been... Hell of a lot of effort though There have been a few twin-turbo, and supercharged, Stags however - all of which seem to work very well

32valve stag has definately been done. talked to guy who had built some at least 5 years ago. somewhat of a god when it comes to dolomites. but he's moved on to historic f1 cars now. i'm not saying its an easy job, and not one i could ever get my head around. but he definately used saab heads for some reason. somewhere theres is a 4.2 jag powered vitesse he built as well, must survive somewhere.

I have been told that you can turn the saab head round and put the cams in the other way. I was on a web site about fitting diffrent heads to V8s the 904 lotus head is the same.

904 heads have the right bore spacing to bolt onto the RV8

Wow.
Do like. ;D
Especially liking the modernising treatment that red one has had- it feels to be in the same vein as the new Mustang/Challenger/Camaro style-wise. They should re-release it looking just like that!
