Ive decided to9 sell my MGB, I really need something bigger, as usual I'm open to any offers or swaps, I'm putting it on here as I cant say that on ebay! The description is copied straight from Ebay, thats whay its a bit formal!
Here we have for sale my 1981 MGB GT LE, the car is finished in Russett Brown, has the orange “Deckchair” interior, has a fully working manual gearbox with overdrive, and most importantly the best part of 12 months MOT!
I’ve owned this car for about 8 months and in that time ive used it every day to commute to and from work, but I'm now doing more motorway miles and I don’t feel that its fair to use the MG for this, so I need something bigger,
The car is showing just over 40,000 miles, I believe this to be genuine, I have some old MOT’s to back this up, but I cant be 100% sure.
Since I have owned the car it has had the following work carried out,
• The carburettors stripped cleaned and set up
• Full service with all the ignition components and filters changed
• New brakes all round, Discs and pads up front, shoes and wheel cylinders on the rear, new fluid and 2 new flexi pipes
• New radiator fan switch, temp sensor and oil pressure sensor
• Alternator refurbished, new belt fitted, wiring and relays replaced
• New sealed beam headlights
For the MOT it had 2 tiny bits of welding (the only welding it has ever had) the brakes adjusted, the headlight beam adjusted, the emissions set and a new flexi brake pipe.
I have receipts and bills for most of this work and the parts used.
Overall the car is in very good condition, it is 100% solid, but the paintwork does let it down a bit, its faded in places and there are scabs and marks around the car, the worst of which ive shown in the photos, but these a just superficial, the bodywork is sound, but it would benefit from some tidying.
The cars is fitted with MGB V8 wheels with excellent tyres, the wheels show no damage or kerbing, but the paint has seen better days, I bought a 5th V8 alloy to use as the spare but this needs a puncture repair and painting to match, the current spare is one of the original rostyles. In addition to this the car will come with a set of 4 rostyle wheels and tyres if you want them!
Inside the seats are in very good condition, as is the dash and headlining, everything works, though the clock is a bit temperamental, the only think letting the interior down is there is a section of the drivers sill carpet missing, these are easily replaced (£19 off ebay I think) I just never bothered me. The car has a modern CD/MP3 player and speakers fitted, but the original radio cassette and speakers are supplied with the car.
The car Runs and drives well, maintains excellent oil pressure, and normal temperature, I have carried out several long trips in this car with no problems at all, the overdrive is in full working order. There is a slight blow on the exhaust that you can only really hear when the engine is cold, once warm the pipe must expand and close the gap, the MOT man didn’t pick up on it, in just being honest.
Overall this is an excellent car that is ready to be driven and enjoyed over summer, and with a bit of time and effort it could be a mint example of this appreciating classic! Check out this months Practical Classic, there is a rubber bumper MGB buyers guide, rating these cars over the much more expensive chrome bumper cars.
Viewing is strongly recommended and welcome, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions, I am looking for a bigger classic/retro car, so if anyone has anything interesting for sale…..
Any Questions please ask! I'm looking for something Jag/Merc/BM ect shaped, so any offers invited!
Cheers
Ric
