LOL yeah that guy was a real treasure. I'm convinced he was trying to start a fight. Heard of meeting trouble half way, but he was a 9/10ths kinda guy. Yes it was worth the price, (if I don't find the absence of water in the rad is due to the head gasket!) and I couldn't exactly knock him down anyway since it was all going to charity. Just trying to find out if a wiper spindle is available from USA for it.

I didn;t have any trouble with Daves neighbours when I bought my E28.....although it was early in the day.

it was Alans neighbour. He moaned that my dogs were looking at his wife. He had a 10 plate blando-mobile and insisted I reversed my patrol and trailer from the opposite side of the road so he could get out easier. Either he has never driven a car before or he was just being very annoying. In view of the subsequent threats of physical violence, I did move it. And as predicted, he didn't even use the area I was parked in! Oopps. I do believe I am waffling. Have a pic then

Looking forward to seeing the car when it's finished.

Don't like stretched tyres, very low profile tyres & I think a car CAN be too low. Perhaps I'm odd.

Assuming its a V8 that looks a £700 car. Says the man who hasn't even seen it for real LOL. I looked at a lot of these over the years and never bought one because all the cheap ones were SERIOUSLY rotten.
I still harbour desires to own one.
That looks earlier than an '80.
I thought they had the face lift for '80 or was that '81.

I really like that, gotta be worth the £700 you gave for it..
really fancy a station wagon version of summat like this at the mo (inspired by dudes caprice wagon no doubt) cant find one for sale at the mo for anything sensible though
If it's a 305 i expect it to be achingly slow, my tpi camaro 305 isn't exactly a rocket ship unless you really work it hard through the gears, but then if you wanted to go fast i guess you would wouldnt have bought an 80's yank sedan! cruise around in style and comfort with the wig wag lights going!

I've researched the VIN and its actually a 1979. Yes its 305ci and is gutless. This car feels heavy. (Full separate chassis) and the engine is not running as it should. Its hard to start from cold and bogs when you floor it, exhaust is blowing too, probaby run better without the cat. However, I have not only repaired the tail lights, wiper mechanism and repainted where the paint was falling off, but I took it to the tyre centre and had a new tyre put on. Now it sits level and looks right and I was able to drive it properly. This is probably the smoothest quietest car I have ever been in. The rear axle ratio is mad, its like 2.5 or 2.6:1! This is a true wafty floater. Drive it with one finger and one toe. Its like driving a waterbed on the road. Heavy, pitchy and when you stop, it carries on wallowing for a bit. And it gets looks from people. I was quite surprised at the stares it gets from cars passing in the other direction in slow traffic. Now, question is, do I , or don't I turn it into a highway patrol car. (or maybe a yellow cab LOL)

I have to say cop car and taxi are both a bit of a cliche with them. Most of the ones I've looked at for sale cheap and run into the ground and rottern were either "Blusemobiles" or NYC Taxi clones.
I'm feeling somewhat jealous. I like that one more each time I look at it. How is it around the window frames and roof? Those are the places these seem to rot worst!

window frames are bad. one door bottom is bad, rest are starting to go. luckily the main chassis and shell of the car is actually very good, not welded, good sills, rear arches, even front wings, bonnet, trunk lid are all good. I think the cat wants junking and maybe a new carb putting on. Oh and maybe a louder pipe because you can hardly even tell its a v8!

Leave it as it is Datman. Just get it running right and enjoy. Probably easier to sell if you want to move it on. I think it's a cracker. I don't feel so bad about posting it up now.

I agree with the sentiment that this needs leaving as is, the world doesn't need another replica. I can't imagine theres a cheaper way into a fullsize yank either, and it really is quite a smart looking car to boot I will keep my eyes out for if/when this comes up for grabs.

Heavy, pitchy and when you stop, it carries on wallowing for a bit. I reckon that's about right for a Yank of this era. You've seen the films of the day, like Dirty Harry etc. The wheels stop, but the body carries on like a fairground ride for about a minute afterwards.

can't be as bad as a Chrysler M Body in that respect. And I speak as someone who owned two of them... And would have another...

Funny you should say that, but I was thinking the other day it drives very much like my 78 Fury sedan did. (M body) I turned that into a cop car and I sold it for a LOT more than I paid for it. Besides, I was expecting the Chevy to be a cop car. I will have to sell the Chevy in the not too distant future as I've got another Plymouth on its way next month.
