Much, much better than last week plot and characterwise. The coma thing seems to be taking a back seat at the moment.
Totally gratuetous opening sequence car chase with Ford Capri and plenty of other stuff too!
Had a van-gasm when the cops rolled out in their two trannies and the fantastic green Bedford. But what the hell did the City boys roll up in?
"watch the paintwork" seems to have developed into the series catchphrase!

Hang on, I didn't think we were allowed to start without NickB's pedantic nitpicking warning?
Here's my opening gambit - the Capri seemed nicely accessorised, but did they have rear foglights in '73?
Anyway, I'm still enjoying it.

Here's my opening gambit - the Capri seemed nicely accessorised, but did they have rear foglights in '73? Well, you're gonna get one of these straight away: Now go and sit in the corner as punishment for the rest of the morning. BTW - I missed it last night as I was watching the more intelectually stimulating 'Balderdash & Piffle' which features some top archive footage of Birmingham streets circa 1980 - Retro spotting ahoy!

I thought it was another ace episode. There's not much on TV that I watch but this has got me hooked. Then switch over to UKTV gold for 'The Proffessionals'

anyone been watching 'the garage' on Discovery? 10pm on Mondays (then an hour later on Disco+1), docusoap thing about a proper proper garage with compulsary offensive scots boss shouting at customers... nice level of technical stuff too, instead of just "this car is in because it's broken", they tell you what's wrong and how they fix it. and the receptionist is nice too

Meat: I get all my US car mags from American Auto Mags. Graham who runs it is a top bloke! Get a copy and Life on Mars doesn't seem so interesting...

Oh life on Mars will always be cool, american car mags or not. Most of the car on LOM are accessible. And my dad or a neigbour will have had one. having said that, one of my mums old flames, before I was born, came back to visit my nan once while I was staying there. Turns out he was a Multimillionaire in the making, and was trolling about about in a Studebaker bacuase he found rollers boring to drive. I managed to trap my fingers in his drivers door while he was slamming it. He gave me £5. Doesn't sound much except that would have somewhere arround to 1972, and I was about 4 years old. That was a lot of money for a kid back then.
My dad had VX's, Wolsleys, Rover P6's, Singers and Hillmans. He loved his Mk3 Cortinas though. But I think he had a Mark 3 Zodiac once. I've always wanted one of those since.
One thing that does annoy me is the accessability of "universal" stuff for building rods/customs/retros, with modern features.
things like power steering racks and boxes to suit older chassis, off the shelf Mustang 2 cross members for getting decent modern IFS with a classic look, even things like power window switches that actually look like window winders.

In Life on Mars Sam Tyler was wearing Levis 569 Jeans ...these 569's didn't exist in 1973! And for being ever so observant do I get one of these to go with my Blue Peter badge?: ;D
