Model: Mitsubishi Delica Exceed 2.5TD Year: 1992 Mileage: 82000 Tax: none MOT: none Location: Newcastle upon Tyne Price: 450 Additional Information: I bought this back in December but due to working all the time, we havent been able to fix it fully. We have fitted a new timing belt, balance belt, and both tensioners, we have also fitted a new crankshaft seal (genuine mitsubishi parts). In total including all the little bits and pieces it owes me £1100. It needs a new battery, and the crankshaft bolt tensioned up (again, new mitsubishi parts). Its the 2.5TD exceed model with the crystalite roof, automatic box, hi and lo gears, electric roof blinds, 7 seats, power steering, air conditioning, electric windows, bull bar with front fog lights, CD player, inclinometer, central locking, etc. Also comes with a load of japanese stickers on it from before it was imported including an original suicide girls sticker ;D EDIT - see page 2 for pictures

I hate spamming other peoples For Sale threads, but.... Surely an afternoons work fitting the parts you have and getting it running will either get you a higher price, or make is much more desirable, as I assume its now a non-runner due to being part-stripped?

Bumping this as we need it gone, and its had loads more done to it hence the price increase. Is it in running condition now? (Apart from the obviously lack of battery?)

nothing else, its had everything done on it. It just needs the crankshaft bolt tightened, and a battery (old battery included but doesnt do anything, lol) I will also include a couple of bits that were made up by the previous owners that convert the delica into a camper

Even just doing the bolt up might help!

The crankshaft pulley must be held to tighten the pulley up, but we havent got anything that will hold it. Which means making something up that can hold the pulley.

In gear and foot on the brake won't hold an Auto It might work with gear stick in park though? It's too far for me but, as has been said, it would make a huge difference to this if it was running at least

From previous experience with these engines (and I do have a smidgen) the balance belt (or lack of it) won't make any difference to the noise of the engine. Many people with the 4D56 engines run them without the balance belts and most report no noticable difference in noise or even vibration from the engine.
If it was making a noise before fitting a balance belt I'd personally do some more thorough investigating before running the engine. Have you pulled the rocker cover off and checked that all the cam caps and rocker arms are intact and not siezed? Have you made double, triple extra sure that the fuel pump is properly timed according the correct markings?
For your sake I'd love to be proven wrong and somehow the lack of balance belt was making the noise (although this would make me worry about something more sinister from within the block). For your sake I hope it is nothing bad and for your sake, I'd find a way to get this running because to be totally truthful, the asking price is a bit steep for a 'non runner' despite the money you've spent on it.
I'm not trying to be picky but would you buy a car for this much money with zero knowledge that the engine is actually OK? Only based on the word of the seller without proof? As the others have said, find a way to get it sorted and you'll probably be more likely to get your asking price or near it.

lol... i spent ages looking for one of these for this sorta money (on the sly) and now i buy the carlton and this comes along lol.... Wonder if i could get away with getting the misses to buy it as a camper... she wants to go camping lol.... Good luck with the sale dude... maybe just have a lil fiddle with it on the weekend and see where ya get... Obviously anything with these and what bruce says is pretty much gospel so may be worth dropping him a p.m and discussing possible causes / way to do that bolt up...?
