Anybody know of any local to Sunderland/Northumbria/Newcastle etc Possibly maybe going up to uni to Sunderland or Northumbria this September so trying to theoreticaly figure out the car situation. It was my original plan when I brought the Imp to get it reliable and modify it for use as a daily driver and only car, however various friends and family have eventualy managed to talk me out of messing with it to much as it is to original. painted the steels original white the other weekend and looks great But don't really want to leave the Imp home in storage in Cheshire. Other idea was to possibly get another classic/retro run about cheap that i can play with and if i do have any problems can use the Imp. So wondering if anyone knows of an storage / let floor space around there? Cheers

Similar thread to my search, not long back and not much out there, although see if the others have owt up that way... if you're in halls you should have half decent car part and thats likely to be full of brand new shiney cars anyway, or try get a shared house with a drive. Golddust? Hmmm perhaps! If anything does come up, options are still open for sharing around these parts, Manchester and west Yorks. Or leave it there (storage in cheshire??) and buy summat cheap n cheerfull, see samyboys thread. Also Its your car, if you got a good thought out plan, it'd be fine modded

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I found one a while back that does a 40 foot long storage container for £30/week in Walkergate with electric provision...they allow you to work on cars there too...
I may be looking to share one with someone soon (if I get a modern daily and keep the shuv for fun).
If you need any info about the area, PM me - I went to college here for two years, dropped out and have lived here for 3 years now...the 140 mile daily commute was a pain in the harris.

I'd be living with my bro and his wife in the middle of Sunderland, they only have parking on the side of the main road but otherwise they have a very small back yard which my bro occasionaly uses to work on his Focus, but couldnt store a car there. That sounds very possible Penski, its not to far from where i'd be living at all, get there via Metro as well. Deffo something to keep in mind, thanks Need to see what difference there would be from living in the middle of nowhere to the middle of Sunderland insurance wise

On a similar note anyone interested in a 1988 Mk2 Ford Orion 1.4 LX in Ivory with *hopefully* 12 months MOT and Tax in the next few months? Want to replace it with something more retro. Engine runs well but starting to smoke like an 80's Ford, rear arches need attention but still solid, otherwise interior, engine bay and other bodywork is mint. Would make agood first car or daily thrasher. Will stick it in the up for sale section in a week or so.

Why not apply to the local council for a garage? I did that as I'm in a simular situation, took around 3-4 months before one came available. £5 a week, cant complain! No electricity but i work on my car there ;D
