fiesta is going to fail the mot by a mile and the engines fast wearing out even if it does pass been thinking what to get next......something basic like a mk3 fezzy or a K12 (bubble micra) but there a lil expensive, just noticed on another sight tho the k10 micra (older ones) will pull a 17 sec run non modded stripped down and light engine work thats a pretty nippy cheap affordable ride.....what you lot think lokking to spend under £300 for an mot'd car......yes I'm a student ;D

You want a Nice shoveit should get one of them for that kind of money ;D and they drive the right wheels so you would learn a hell of a lot about Car control and handling balance ;D Vivas are great for that too, probably better balanced than a Kadett/Chevette as well Cheap to insure and run, easy to get spares for and repair and a lot less to buy than the equivalent Escort ;D

ah the K10 Micra a fine choice for running on a student budget, so cheap in fact i can afford to run a 2nd car ;D ;D ;D There are loads on ebay atm for under £150 with long mots. i don't think mine could managed this, maybe 130K of abuse does start to take its toll btw: the k12 is the new frog micra not the bubble (k11)

Think of of the K10 as the J answer to the Mini. Small, cheap, more space inside than you imagine, and a modable engine. Add to that a mad following among enthusiasts and you are getting the idea.

i learnt in the K11 before hand i passed all micras as ...."you need to be past 60 and an O.A.P to drive" but for what they are there awsome lil cars and certainly wouldnt say no at the right price never seen a viva in the paper id love a 340 and have it over any small hatch anyday but bit to insure oh and id still be keeping my beige fiesta todo something quite insane with RWD ands big big power

340 cant be that bad on insuance, not too easy to nick, crims wouldnt want to nick, and usually driven by doddery (but ironically 'safe') old duffers, and they are not thaty nippy...as standard do an egg quote against something else 1.4 or 1.7.
Not a bad idea. plenty other cheap stuff out there too. always tricky sub 300 quid though, gamble at the best of times!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

You don't need fully comp! I never have, but will when i insure the sierra v8 this year cos i got so much dough in it! Direct line have never done much for me either. had mk1xr2 insured at uni with hastings direct for 400 quid too The 340 could be a minter....! Is the fiesta rotted, if not get it sorted n waxoyled, and throw a 1300 in! spend a full day ringing for insurance it'll save money in the end - usually

Oh and if you actually call endsleigh in person you may talk them into lopping more off your premium, you may not too obviously , but worth a shot when ya ready to pay!

Also seen several sensibly-priced Kadett C's recently..... The Volvos do tend to be steep on insurance (a 2.0 360 costs more to insure than my Sierra GLSi!)... Micra K10 is way underrated so well worth a look, the "over-60" image means most haven't been caned! Rapide would also be cool....the world's your oyster!

If insurance quotes is swaying your choices at all, try sticking your details in confused.com, i always try it when i get a ridiculous idea about buying something different (it happens a lot..). Its always got me a quote loads less than others i've got myself, even if the company its with is quite obscure.
