Hi , I'm new on here brought this for spares other week off ebay for £80. ;D Been sitting for 3 and bit years out side was covered in moss and had grass growing in gutters .Gave it a wash and towed it home home that night on original tyres ! My attitude is its expendable so I'm going to try out a few things I've wanted to do but have been too scared to do on my daily and if i mess up it was scrap any way. I by passed full tank and with a new battery it started up and all seems to work, has rust pretty much most places but nothing i have not done on my daily ( another ital). I got in to cars via reading the likes of custom car and street machine back in the 90's and have always wanted to have a go at a roof chop I'm brand new on here has any one on forum done this would love some pointers eg screen cutting , I'm fairly handy with a welder and have restored a few cars now. Will be starting in a few weeks after i have finished helping my brother sort out his shed of an avenger he brought. Basically the idea is very low and probably black lay the rear screen down to give it more of a coupe look , if things go well i will try two dooring with some marina coupe doors. This is all pipe dreams at the moment but your thoughts are welcome. Will up load some more pics soon. Rob. ;D

Hey there, welcome. You should prob let some of us do some photoshops, or ask around on general page as I'm sure we've seen a shonky roof chop that was offered on ebay... Depends what you want, personally I'm not convinced, however if you did it supe subtle, not too much out of roof height and tried to keep windows and pillars looking similar it possibly could work. something like this

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Marina Coupe doors are no longer than Marina Saloon ones.

Yes , the plan would be to move the b pillars back just to tidy up the lines as i said its all pipe dreams at the moment haven't even got coupe doors but give it time.
It will either go spectacularly wrong or maybe i can pull it off as i said if it goes wrong the car was scrap any way so no loss.

Move C pillars forward might need to to stick with roof length. Bit of work to do though.

I found a HOW-to chop the roof on a Morris, I think it usefull On the other hand, it really is a looker with some angled a+c pillars and a chopped roof. It also is lowered and the wheels are spaced out, but still...

No idea how to tackle a roof chop, but take the plunge and try it, like you say it's a spares car so you've got nothing to lose.

This oughta do it. Go for the classic Mopar Muscle Coupé look - maybe even a vinyl roof and Range Rover V8...

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the BIVA issue yet?

Was just thinking the same.. I love the idea but if it's a monocoque car, then you have an issue with registering it legally.

This oughta do it. Go for the classic Mopar Muscle Coupé look - maybe even a vinyl roof and Range Rover V8... THAT looks the dogs danglys................BUILD IT ;D But as has been said, chopping up a monocoque nowadays is a bit of a no-no unless your willing to put it through the BIVA test. Good luck with it whatever you choose to do with it........Ital's are the future Steve

I'd love something like this, and there's loads and loads of new/old stock available on ebay.
