Just because this got locked in the general board, ill post it in here. On an old fail sheet for my honda melody, one of the fail reasons its because the seat wouldnt lock. Now, theres no lock on this at all anymore, and i cant find one, I'm wondering - where can i get one? On these, the lock is there, behind the seat (the small black thing). And on mine, you can see its missing >_< Any ideas?

does it close and stay secure, or can you open it without using a catch?

Well, it just opens and closes at the moment, and doesnt lock shut because theres no lock to lock it with.
I do actually want it to lock because some traveller can come along and syphen my fuel (the cap doesnt lock).

as far as i can remember the way these lock is the seat has a ring attached to the base which drops down to be locked in the bit of the lock which also locks your helmet to the bike if you look at your second picture you can just see it have you tried david silver spares as they do lots of out of date honda stuff also as far as i can remember just about all small hondas of that era used very similar if not the same locks or just a length of chain attached to the seat and padlocked to the rack ttfn glenn

I think i might just make something. Looking closer at those pictures, it hardly looks sturdy, so i could most likely make something just as good (if not better) with some thick metal plate and a padlock. Thankyou all very much for your help
