i have my mates 525 td bmw that he will be taking apart this weekend the listing below are in his words (better spelling to lol)
jsut in the off chance anyone needs anything I'm breaking hte car at the weekend with a view to getting rid of hte shell asap
1995 taxed and tested till june/july 170k miles ish
bodywork is pretty much rust free except for a couple of spots lower doors nothign major, all panels have lacquer peel and i hand sprayed the bonnet but looks ok
possible compression loss although not confirmed however lots of unburnt fuel and very rough running makes me think this
gearbox and drivetrain all ok hartge bilstein suspension upfront
bad bits slightly loose steering, could be steering box, track rod ends, the main steering link assembly.. .not too sure never been too bothered to fix
lower control arms ball joints are a bit easy to move for my taste but not floating about yet
poly upper arm bushes
everything inside works except for the lcd display miles/trip/service
why is any of this useful? well my understanding is that an m30 or m20 will bolt directly up to the gearbox, although final drive will be tall due to the 2.65 diff
other useful bits
crank is forged, good for m20 (and possibly m50) upgrades, bit heavier but much stronger, however it hasnt been confirmed that the crank is ok
other useful bits for diesel boys... turbo has a bit of play and floats left right, not out in, looses a bit of oil through it but then again it always has for the last 65000 miles ive owned it.
egr bypass adaptor almost new, stainless
exhaust, cat etc etc..
pictures of the car
car is located 5 miles from fareham town in hampshire
wheels are not for sale
need any thing let me know on here and i'll speek to him / pass you his number can post small items but big items will need picking up
