Given some of the, ahem, problems that seem to have reared their heads up of late, does anyone else think that a sticky of banned subjects would be a good idea? I'm thinking of things like: Cut springs/MOT Banded wheels are kitten-killers Is this retro? Anything with 'chav' or 'traveller' in Scene tax Rat look is gash ...just thinking out loud, really. Oh, and mods... feel free to delete this for being off-topic...

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

It's a good idea, but in reality I think the only action that needs to be taken is that we don't get drawn in every time!

I think everyone is entitled to their opinion, so why take that away from someone, if the thread is read carefully and no-one is being offensive to anyone else then I can't see a problem with it.
So keep you daft suggestions to yourself, ;D (only kidding)
Cheers,
Stu.

It is all in here : retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=45829We do lock threads that run their course,.. Is this retro? Cut springs, banded = bad and Rat look = gash threads get locked. Scene tax stuff doesn't pop up too often now days. The chav/traveller stuff should have been locked sooner, although the original question was valid (if poorly worded). A few of the problems we've had on here over the past year were a bit of "Saturday night syndrome".. and there isn;t anything we can do about that (actually this time last year we considered locking all the boards at around 7pm on Saturday and unlocking them in the morning ).

if the thread is read carefully and no-one is being offensive to anyone else then I can't see a problem with it. that doesnt happen though. and it always degrades into an infantile argument, where someone invariably gets the hump.

I don't think it will work beause most of the banded wheel / chopped springs threads pop up because the original poster was too lazy to use the search function, so I doubt they will look in a thread as to what they can and cannot post. how do banded steels kill kittens??? They don't, just bus stops full of nuns and ophans ;D

Don't think so, the mods here do a great job... Some threads that start out badly can turn out good... see the ace advice one, and others end up going totally bizzarro, even though they still had the potential to turn out well, eg the 'chav' one. Anyway, my main reason for posting was 'cos I'm loving this It reminds me of a blancmange, in fact if I was rolling it, I'd have a mould made to scale and have a table of car-shaped blancmanges at shows ;D

If people can't work a search Function then there's not much hope of them noticing a sticky.

Actually I think we should ban the words 'R*tro' and Old-sch*ll. Even Max Muppet magazine uses them now...

Surely, given the high level of activity on this board, if someone asks something stoopid or unrelated to the board it will plummet down the board anyway?
Just like when someone butts in with something silly at the pub, theres a brief pause then everyone carries on with their original conversation!

Surely, given the high level of activity on this board, if someone asks something stoopid or unrelated to the board it will plummet down the board anyway? Unfortunately, no - there's always plenty of people who either take the bait and vent their spleen, or try far too hard to reason with those who won't even listen to, let alone appreciate it. I may, or may not, have been guilty of falling into one of the above categories in the past... Ideally, 'self-moderating' would sort out any related problems, but it seems that many of the members that 'got' the ethos of the forum have disappeared/stormed off. Ho-hum.
