My Dad took his car for it's MOT the other day, the tester was telling him that (if I understand this right) under the new computerised MOT system you won't be able to get an MOT done if the old one still has more than a month to run... so if your MOT runs out in the middle of the show season, and you want to take your car for a MOT in the winter while you've got time to fix it...TOUGH Has anyone else come across this?

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

I think that always been the case ! Just with the computerised system, the inspector can't turn a blind eye and date the new mot from the end of the old one ! Which is a bit of a pisser. Oh well, its whats deemed as progress in this green and unpleasent country.

AFAIK, you can still get your 'extra' month... ie if your MOT expires on the 30th Febuary and your car passes on the 31st January, you will have an MOT until 29th Febuary the followng year... but under the 'old' system you could take your car whenever you liked. How did garages put 12 months ticket on cars that already had MOTs otherwise? In fact I've done it myself, when selling a car which only had a short MOT...
