IMHO, driving is simply not the pleasure it used to be when I started back in 1990. Is it really fair to blame the police and government for that through, because it seems a lot of people are willing to. The fact is many people have behaved like criminals and ruined it for us all. We can either continue to let it get worse and watch more and more people cross the line into no tax and insurance or we can do something about it. Couldn't agree more. I don't blame the Government. I blame people generally becoming increasingly aggressive and unpleasant. Maybe I am part of the problem. I am not perfect! But I have really noticed it in the last 2-3 years. Generally, classic or modified car enthusiasts are much more friendly! And law-abiding! I am proud to be a "wierd car" fanatic. Anyway, back to topic... I'm

ANPR camera's - I ride a motorbike to work and on a certain stretch of road I used to use daily there is regularly a ANPR camera with people to pull you over if the camera flashes you up as not insured/taxed/tested etc. This camera, like all I assume takes a picture of the front of the vehicle, obviously a modern (or even reasonably modern) motorbike doesnt have front plates. First time I was pulled over and checked I thought oh well, had to happen some time, it was when they started pulling me over regularly to manually input my details that I objected, as did my boss as the same excuse for being late for work did not go down well. I sugested to he operatives that wouldnt it be a good idea to just turn the camera around so a picture was taken of the rear, only to receive raised eyebrows.
Coming back to a nationwide system of camera, to me the really interesting bit will be when the then current powers that be try and sell this system to the general public. How many times can you get the phrases "terrorist threat" and "uninsured drivers" into one sentence.

.... blame them for what? I think MWF thought I was "blaming" the Government for generally increasing levels of aggression and intimidation on the roads. I wasn't REALLY blaming anyone for anything, actually! I just think that the world is not as friendly a place as it was. You can flame me if you want but that's my humble view. Tailgating, road rage, intimidation... It's not just on the roads either. And no, I am not some pacifist recluse! I am just sharing my opinion, minding my own business, etc.! I am a social animal too! That's all. ;D And in my experience, classic and modified car owners are much more pleasant to other road users. I think it has something to do with being an enthusiast. Just my 0.00000000000002 pence worth! ;D Now, back to Big Brother cameras... I'm

I can see the benefits of such a system. But i just can't see it being used that way.
I'm a law abiding citizen most of the time.
I pay my taxes and i behave myself. I don't WANT to be watched all the time.

what worries me most is the fact that they will be monitoring every single movement you make in your car? what is the need for this? are they sick in the head? back in the 1960s they didn't seem to have anywhere near as much problems as these, and that was before the use of computers and technology

(p.s. flashed by cameras, not pervy men in long brown macs)
