Les mis has come to town so for the next 4 weeks i will have no evenings off but i will have lots of lil spare gaps between shows and cues on stage. so when i can i will be popping next door to our workshop and getting some bits and bobs done.
As this is a new touring set they still make running mods to it, cutting and changing bits as they go. one of the things so far is they have modded some of the lighting booms. this has left some spare metal to play with.
I have had a bed project on backburner (like everything else) for a bit now as the bed we have at the moment has no storage underneath it and Lottie has loads more clothes than the wardrobe, a dresser and part of the spare room can hold... so with the 40mm box steel i now have i started making up the the sides of the bed.
I am making it with a 40cm clearance because i like high beds and it will help with the storage. It also needs to be in keeping with the rest of the room and the headboard i made a while back; so i will be making the top and storage out of wood to keep it coordinated as good as i can. then i want to make it so it can dismantle in to manageable bits to get through tight gaps and doors. This means it will be made with steel sides and spine with what essentially will be two single slatted wood tops.
so here are a couple of pictures from today. I have done both sides, next is spine then on to the wood
