I recently bought a new old fuel cap for my GT but its seen better days and needs a bit of work. Its from a 70's Celica ST by the way First job i had to do was remove the exisiting barrel lock which had no key and was damaged. So after some grunting, swearing and finally "picking" the lock out it came. Should i be able to buy one of these new to replace this one does anyone know? Its 17mm dia. and 33mm in length. The other thing is the chrome is well pitted, as obvious in the pictures, so can anyone point me in the right direction of a decent (but reasonable) chrome platers as they are non-existent in Ireland from what I am informed

Hey Dude, I recognise that top photo I'm afraid I can't help with the lock, other than to say...nice picking skillz ;D. What I can help with though is the chrome plating. 01934 631277 - ask for Martin (the boss) and tell him you're a friend of Bruce's (AKA Bruce with the Delica) and that I've highly recomeneded him for his plating skillz. He should do you a good job on that for not too much money ;D Their address: Avon Electroplating Unit 2, CROWN Works Oldmixon Crescent Oldmixon Industrial Estate Weston-super-Mare North Somerset BS24 9AX I'm sure if you email him some photos too he'll be able to give you a quote before sending it: info@avonelectroplating.co.uk Luckily he's a can fanatic so just tell him how much you're into cars and you're onto a winner! If you've got any bits of metal (steel) or old bolts you want reviving, send them along too, he'll zinc plate them for not a lot of money. Excellent guy to deal with, amazing prices and I love supporting a small independent business rather than a large company with their £60 minimum order, can't be arrsed to help the lowly car enthusiast attitudes! If needed, I can get over there once done and collect the filler for you (and any other parts) to send over or even deliver in person sometime like.....May

won't a door lock fit?
maybe the dealer can sort you out with a lock and keys, otherwise keep an eye on the bay..

if the lock barrel is in decent nic then you can get it re-keyed. I had my boot one done for $10 on the kombi as it came off a different car so had a different key to the rest. I looked into it again recently for getting the Volvo ones rebuilt, and a full rebuild of the locks to match a new key cut to the original code was $30-$50 per lock.
