In much the same way as Alan, I backed sheepishly away from the rolling eyebrow destroyer that is the area 52 bar b q. Instead I dripped cow juice back across Bristol, stripped it and fried it up with some pepper, seasoning, toms, shrooms an whatever else I had to hand, some tortilla wraps and sour cream. Matt, sir, that meat was some of the most tender rump I have ever had the pleasure to nibble on and the most fun that I've had with rump with my clothes on.
Thanks again all, enjoyed every moment there and missed it all the time I wasn't. Too many to thank and too many to offend by missing them out but as has previously been mentioned it was great to see some old 'new' faces.
It's a year in and still going from strength to strength...can't wait until the sun starts poking it's head out and making evenings something to look forward to...got the central heating in just in time eh Bruce?!

weekend was awsome loved it as usual this place just gets better and better.. the cow flesh was top notch (thanks bloke!!) however we devised ways to cook it that maybe a bit out of the norm.... try deep frying it for tasty loverlyness!!# so tender it cut with blunt paper scissors..... KFW decided thye more rural cooking methods were needed.. colonelk was mighty inpressed by this..... KFW happy with the result... and not wanting to smother the taste in bread....... MMMMmmmm!! tasty... the bossman lets people know where its at.. chris provides stuff for looking @ and it gets sorted through... nobody escapes the massive cowmeat.. nobody!! plenty of drinking going on... and eventually chris declares "enough is enough!!" which was enjoyed by all onlookers.. right thats my drunkenly snapped dump.. enjoy.. si

Bruce and Foxmcintyre for welding my car up ;D Steve No worries dude, anytime. Still amazed I managed to get those plates to stick so well with the gas turned off also thanks to everyone who was there and espicially those who saved me the embarisment of having to leave A52 on a transporter, you will be pleased to here there is now virtually no pedal travel to get brakes at all ;D Paul Thank you dude for letting my turn a spanner or 2 on such a different and fun car! ;D Looking at the pics makes me wish I had been there all weekend, but there is always next time Bruce, expect a text at somepoint tomorrow

Another excellent weekend of cars, beer, meat and banter courtesy of Bruce and Area 52 I was useless as ever, wandering around asking stupid questions and generally making a nuisance of myself. Thanks to Si (b8d) and Steve (Sleeperviva) for the detour to pick me up and the way, and Matt (stealthstylz) for the lift into Bristol, hope it wasnt too far out of your way in the end! One day i might arrive under my own steam...

Finally got around to pulling the pics off the camera! Not impressed at all.....I thought I had either broken the camera or I was too pi55ed to use it because my pics came out curse word! Turns out I had it in a metering mode I don't use....which explains the shonky darkness/brightness thing! I'll try and rectify the ones I put up here....but disappointed with myself at not spotting the change in settings over the weekend The troops gather to watch John do his stuff It was great to watch John do the demo 100% concentration and interest from everyone. You couldn't ask for more! This PVA stuff & sponge applicators look like they might be a lifesaver! Practicing applying Gelcoat Even I got to have a go....WOOHOO! Breaktime and we all warm up by the fire.... ...or wait to grab the tea's/coffee's as they come out FOOD! Back to the workshop and more orange - but resin coats this time John held everyone's interest right to the end. John, we thank you! The power of fibreglass matting & black pigment/tint.....it gets EVERYWHERE!! The results were amazing though (unfortunately I didn't get a shot! ) Then we celebrated Area 52's first Birthday. One year to the day that I signed the lease and everyone seemed to enjoy the cake (despite the fact I caught the icing on the 52 when I took it out of the box!) More to come tomorrow morning......

Bruce, your pics are all red Xs on my work PC. Don't know if it's your 'bucket or Screwfix breaking the interwebnet. I had such a good weekend and even now I don't think I can compile a proper post to explain but it looks as though a lot of it has been covered.. Thanks again to EVERYONE that was there. And I'm blaming John for my fixation on making some carbon fibre bumpers. And then Bruce for wanting to then make some Ikea 'show bumpers' whilst I've got the mould out.. Cheers for letting me go mental with a welder to make an exhaust too

Phil, I haz ur book you wanted. ;D Signed Here are PtII of the photos. By this time, John had left and people started chilling, chatting, sipping on beer and thinking of food Adam was one of the first to receive his monster steak. You really will never understand how big these things were unless you ate one. Adam's was folded over in a vain attempt to get it to fit onto the plate Ian chomps on a burger while Coleen watches Ben devour the remainder of his beef mountain.... Gordon 'Stealthstylz' Ramsey shows how portions sizes should be - no poncey little fillet steaks here Kev chooses the agricultural method of cooking his steak - cowshit & concrete on the shovel just add to the flavour Flambé steak redneck style. Awesome James approves of copious amounts of red meat. His lovely lady also manages to polish of a whole mansized full steak too. VERY impressive! Steaks done, most can hardly even move! The beer keeps on flowing along with the chat. Chris proudly displays his fetching orange footwear. The big jessie was worried about getting his nice new trainers dirty. He was reluctant to try out the latest in recycled shoe coverings but soon fell in love with the whole look Si pulls his frosty camo painted Viva in for some custom drunken graphics - I don't think this is quite what he was after? ....nor this Ben starts plotting out the bonnet design with a dinner plate... ....until Chris nicks it to show off his plate spinning party trick (made all the funnier with that footwear LOL Pt III to come later.....

I've been perusing fibreglass suppliers most of the evening... I absolutely loved learning about it all and look forward to practicing on my own.. Just need to find some pennies to get the stuff together before I start

Ben, I'm interested in this possibility of fibreglass bumpers..........take the mould off the originals then you could cut a bit out of the centres and rejoin so they sit closer to the body at the ends then just shorten the main fixing brackets so they come in closer in the centre. Got to be worth a go sometime? Steve
