Area 52 & Grinders go hand in hand. It's what we do (ask RTLKyuubi ) hehe ;D If you go down to Area52 with a car thats got coilsprings, they must be chopped!! its the law ;D Great to see that the hotplate works! If its not already been done for the next time I'm down, Ill finish welding the lip on so you can have egg's with your breakfast ;D Ill be back in bristol on the 8th of march for two weeks, so if you give me a ring ill be able to nip down to A52 and give you a hand with anything. As for subway coil springs, I had one on my old micra: And got one for my new micra too ;D

*** PLAYDAY 7 DETAILS - FIBREGLASSING WORKSHOP/DEMO ***Saturday 20th February from 9.30amFirstly, please note that this event is limited to 25 people max. If you would like to attend, please let me now ASAP if you would like to attend (leave a note in this thread) Please ONLY say you would like to attend if you can 100% make it, if in doubt, please don't put your name down. I would hate to see someone miss a place if someone else puts their name down and doesn't turn up. I will also have to cover your cost if you don't show, so please bear that in mind. So what is the weekend about? John Dickens (Technical Editor of Complete Kit Car magazine) has kindly offered to come all the way from Newcastle to do a demonstration on basic fibreglassing. He will be running a few demonstrations in basic fribreglassing techniques before letting you loose to have a go yourself (probably in small teams) and answering any technical questions you have about fibreglass. This is an excellent opportunity to learn a new skill, or expand your skills if you only know the most basic principles. The cost of the workshop is £12 which is to be paid to me in cash on the day - this is to cover the cost of the materials & equipment we'll be using, which John has already bought out of his own pocket (£6 of the £12 for materials). £4 of the cost will go towards some Machine Mart vouchers which I will be buying to give to John as a token of our thanks for giving up his time for free. The remaining £2 is to go towards the unit costs (electricity, BBQ gas etc....) which seem to be hitting my pocket more & more with each succesive playday! (maybe something to do with more & more people attending ;D) The fibreglassing workshop is a day event, but the playday will still run as a weekender, so you are more than welcome to stay over in the unit if you like (you'll either have to sleep in your car with lots of warm bedding, or bring a small pop-up tent and sleeping bags which we can put up somewhere in the unit) Last time, nine people stayed over and it was a proper laugh. We then continue making things/playing with things on the Sunday too. Food is based on either chipping into the food kitty (usually about £5 if just having food lunchtime, £10 if staying late and £15 if staying overnight) or you can bring your own food along. Burgers, sausages and other food that can be cooked on a BBQ are best. Snacks & donuts always welcome. If staying over, bring some money to chip into the beer kitty, or bring your own booze.... Kick off is at 9.30am on Saturday morning, please don't be too late or you'll miss out. Anyone who hasn't been to the unit before, please PM me for directions. Here is the list. It's mostly full due to people from the last playday already signing up! Please ONLY put your name down if you can make it. It will be an AWESOME weekend ;D 1) Eightsix (James) 2) Ben911 (Ben) 3) Kevfromwales (Kev) 4) BiAS (Ian) 5) Charlatan1 (Morgs) 6) Bryn (Bryn) 7) Adam (Adam) 8) Joethefish (Joe) 9) Stealthstylz (Matt) 10) Sleeperviva (Steve) 11) Black8driver (Si) 12) Tofufi (Jim) 13) ColonelK (Mark) 14) Butterz (Dave) 15) CortinaRyan (Ryan) 16) J1mmy (Jimmy) 17) Bratman (Tim) 18) Mid72 (Sean) 19) Jammzr (James) 20) Ratters (Lee) 21) LuckyGTI (Pete) 22) CCRBeaver (Sarah) 23) PaulDaft44 (Paul) 24) Pickmeup (Gaz) 25) Can't make it during the day, but will be there in the evening/overnight/Sunday (£12 not applicable): Hairnet.

cracking time catching up on Area52 updates! Top work chaps! I aim to join you all at some point this year, whens your next play days planned Bruce? Thanks Dude, Would love to have you along sometime Keefy - I've just posted details on the next playday (20th Feb), but it will probably be too short notice for you? With things all going a bit manic for me recently, I haven't had chance to update the Area 52 blog, but here is the blog entry with the next few playday dates for you; area52blog.blogspot.com/2010/01/playday-dates-get-your-diaries-ready.htmlHope you can make it along sometime soon? Regards, Bruce.

Bruce, having a clear out in the garage and I have a few more bits for you, some old car parts for welding and a bed if you want it! Thanks Dude, I have to say....a bed would have be the most random thing donated yet. We'll have to somehow fix it on a platform in the rafters when not in use and lower it down for people to fight over on the sleep overs LOL.

Can I put myself down for this and a parking space for my belt driven wonder. I would be coming over from the west coast of wales so it would be a bit of a push to get there for 09.30. So I know its a big ask but if there is still a place available can I crash at someones saturday night. Otherwise I will aim to arrive for the evening.

Its a retro 1970s folding Zedbed, closes up to be about waist height an 12" wide, then opens to be a single bed, cheesy flowery matress included! I'll try and get some pictures

Pete, a place is yours ;D Really glad you can make it....about time too. Your pop-up tent FTW! LOL - I'll PM you directions a bit later. John, you just make damn sure you work your hardest to get to this. You haz to be there. Paul, I really can't make out what you're saying...you sound like you might be a bit late, but then you say something about arriving for the evening? You can sleep in the car again but there are no guarantees that there will be space for it in the unit....I think a few cars might be outside this time considering the number of people comin. Hot water bottles essential for outdoor dwellers (check them for splits/holes first) Please let me know if you will be there for the fibreglassing or not....then I can add you to the list if you are. We can work out the sleeping/parking at a later point. David, I am sure someone will be able to have a look at refitting your head on the Sunday (I think Saturday will be a bit manic) - I'll leave it up to you to sort any gaskets etc....and you might want to PM Si to remind him to bring the head along with him ;D Steve, Zedbed sounds awesome. YES PLEASE ;D I'll see if anyone is coming past your way who might be able to collect en-route? Cheers mate - that's so cool.

Miss spell sorry to confuse. Because its a 3 and 1/2 hour drive to the unit from home as I am on reading week before hand. Unless I can stay somewhere friday night I cant make the fiberglassing. If theres somewhere to kip friday night then I will be there for everything otherwise I will arrive for the evening of saturday does that make more sense

Lee & Jim, list amended. ;D
Paul, my house is a bit of a full house on Fri night. Kevfromwales is staying over and my GF also has a couple of her girlie friends over for the night....so no room at the inn I'm afraid!
I'll leave your name off the list for now...but if you do get a place for the night let me know.
Cheers for now,
Bruce.

Planning on joining in the evening fun with drunken rubbish talking and late night welding shennanigans! Quite excited, its a bit like going on Cub Camp! I will say now that I don't do camping, so if I am seen on Sunday morning with retarded hair and looking grumpy after a night spent shivering in my car then you know why! Right then going to have to look at buying a sleeping bag! Bagsy a sofa in the snug!
