Spent a little more money today....not much, but it will have a huge benefit for anyone interested in Area52, PlayDays etc.... With the help of James (EightSix) there will hopefully soon be a website where more detailed info can be put up about forthcoming events, playdays etc....which will make it easier to keep track of what is going on rather than having to sift through pages on here (i.e. keep this thread a bit cleaner) There will also be a gallery, info about the unit and even some merchandise....more details to come. It's early days but hopefully an exciting new addition to the whole Area52 thing All ideas, comments, suggestions as to content, style, scheme.....anything.....is welcomed. ;D

Excellent goings on there, i'm liking the artwork lots.
I sooo wish this sort of thing was going on while i lived in somerset, rather than now i'm up in yorkshire. Might have to coincide a trip to my mates in newport with a future playday just to have a look at the place ;D

After meeting Brat-Man today (must learn his real name ) and him raving about the fun had at area 52 and pointing in the right direction of this thread (my wife was very impressed with the sculptures), i thought i'd say hello/lend a hand at the next play day if there is space I have an old 90 amp MIG that's been sat idle if you/anyone wanted it to either refurb, strip for spares or turn into something interesting. If you are after a bodywork victim, the arches on my B4 passat will need some rolling once the springs are 'adjusted' if your up for it? I have spring compressors and a grinder I also have a large stack of old CCC's, which are looking for a new home. After seeing the walls or area 52, the table you've built and a thread on comics on cars I started thinking it would be a giggle to recycle them over the roof of the passat, but i don't quite know how to make it weather proof (celly laqure or varnish perhaps) or the artistic streak to be able to arrange them so that they don't look gash. Thoughts or help welcomed

Sand roof.. PVA glue and water mix to stick them down (in suitably arty randomness) then good few coats of laquer over the top should see it right

Sounds very do-able, just need to find some one with the arty streak to pull it off (i also understand if working on my car the 1st time turn up is a big no-no, more interested in in having a laugh, helping others than getting work done on my car)

Thoughts or help welcomed not sure if i am understanding this right but if someone wants to put printed pictures on their ride a way of doing it is called acrylistration (i think!) the way it works is you spray a couple of layers of acrylic laquer over the picture then you soak it in water to soften the paper next you gently rub away the paper leaving the ink held on the film of laquer finally a spray of laquer on the surface you want to decorate lay on the film and a final spray round the edges to seal ttfn glenn ps pictures run off on a computer printer seem to go dark over time pps some pictures are printed with no white in them (they use the white of the paper) so you have to lay down a white base to put them on

I have an old 90 amp MIG that's been sat idle if you/anyone wanted it to either refurb, strip for spares or turn into something interesting. If you are after a bodywork victim, the arches on my B4 passat will need some rolling once the springs are 'adjusted' if your up for it? I have spring compressors and a grinder Welder would be awesome if you are OK to donate it?? Worst case scenario is that it gets incorporated into some kind of sculpture if it can't be got working. Many thanks for the offer.... As for bodywork victim - the best thing I can offer at the moment is a possible 'yes please'. There are already quite a few cars put forward and we might be alright for now, but as I've said to a few others, bring it along anyway and if there is room & time, then we'll wheel it in. It all depends on how the day pans out, how well we get on with the other cars etc..... One thing I can say - there will always be another time if we don't get chance this time around. I also have a large stack of old CCC's, which are looking for a new home. After seeing the walls or area 52, the table you've built and a thread on comics on cars I started thinking it would be a giggle to recycle them over the roof of the passat I see Joe has given some good advice about this and its something we can always try out on a test bit of bodywork to see how weatherproof it is. There is a 'spare' MX5 bootlid of Joe's that is crying out for some decoupage testing so maybe we could give it a go during the day. If you have any CCC's that you think you can spare, the unit is always looking to expand its retro motoring magazine collection. Nudge nudge wink wink ;D

OMG, that would be AWESOME!! I see Joe has played the man from Del Monte which is always a good thing. He and I were discussing on the phone the other day some crazy mad plans for building a 'series' of A52 buggy/bike/things for people to ride/drive at other meets. The main thing we will be looking out for are any old scooters, mopeds, petrol engined machines that could power some forthcoming 'wacky racers'. Thank you so much for the offer, we'll take it for sure. Just got to work out the transportation of it now.....

Well after two trips there is a 125cc 4 stroke scooter in my garage... all be it in bits! So check that up as one more potential power source.. I'll strip it down some more over the coming week and have a look at transporting it to A52 ;D As for the moped I can offer storage for it if needed or a hand shifting/collecting it although not in my car.. MX5's are not designed for carrying scooters!

MX5's are not designed for carrying scooters! Neither, it would seem, are lowered Volvo saloons.. ;D One of these took A LOT of stripping to be able to take it back to Joe's. The chassis isn't really in one piece anymore either.. If you can figure out the bits you need to take (strip the loom off and stuff), I don't mind taking it all up for the next playday
