Right, finally getting around to putting some photos up. This was my first ever visit to A52; as such, I probably didn't get stuck in as much as I could have so I'll just have to make sure I do next time. Because there's definitely going to be a next time ;D So, a newbie's-eye view of A52 (apologies for the blurriness of some of the photos; my camera's a bit curse word. That's my excuse anyway ;D): I had to get a pic of my car inside those iconic doors ;D The sights that greeted me: First job of the weekend was to strip the subframes from the red MX-5 shell, ready for Mike D and Foxy to come and collect the shell while the subframes went elsewhere: Chris (Diabolu) popped in to help, on his way back from London to Derby... Erm, via Bristol, with Mike and Foxy coming down from Oop North: With the subframes removed, it was time to load the shell onto the truck. Well, after a wheel and stance "mock-up". It'd be rude not to ;D: Shell safely loaded, it was time for a nice early night... Or something. Many many beers and a lot of cider polished off, many many stories shared and a hell of a lot of laughs, eventually turning in at about 4.30am: brilliant evening ;D

Eventually, it was time to lower the Cav back to ground: ...All in perfect working order. Except for the lack of first gear and reverse Back up it went, with Jrevillug on board, Bruce, Adam, and Robin beneath it. The rest of the evening went like this: "That should be first" "No, that's reverse" "That should be third" "No, that's first" "That should be fifth" "No, that's first again" ...and so on ;D The Rascal, newly bewheelstudded (yes it is a word) and back on the ground. Looking good. A selection of MX-5 bits and slots. And so to bed...

Sunday was mostly car moving day. The Gathering has gone so I can post this: It's great ;D Simple in concept, but very effective. I like it quite a lot. Then onto moving the Fairlane. The Fairlane is a massive heavy child born out of wedlock of a car, but it is the car for which the word "potential" was invented. Butterz loves it: Bit dusty though: Needs a bit of work though. See that screwed up tinfoil-looking thing?: That's the transmission tunnel. Eventually wheeled into place: And then it was time to go. Congratulations if you've managed to stay the course through these posts ;D. Full album is here, although I've posted pretty much all of it

Oh hell! That pic has reminded me that the Fairlane boot is still full of half a Mercedes engine! Sorry Bruce, next time I'm there it will be removed!

To update things on a play weekend front, due to the Gathering, and everyone being pretty damn tired/busy, there's no official play-weekend in September. The next Play-Weekend is currently planned for the 14-16th of October.
There was however some activity down at the unit this last weekend, although not an official play weekend. I needed to get the Scirocco's new power-plant in it before leaving for uni (Tomorrow!), and Bruce kindly offered to let me use the unit this weekend in order to make it possible, him and some of the other locals and regulars also lent a hand with it, all of which is MASSIVELY appreciated!
Anyway, this is the result of the weekend taken from my build thread:

Many thanks for the updates everyone - especially Robin for posting the October dates up in my absence.
As some of you may have noticed we haven't had a September playweekend. The first time in two years that we've not had one. As Robin has said, with the build up to the Gathering and other things everyone was tired and busy so it was decided to have a month off - which was good for me.
Even with that, we still successfully managed to squeeze an engine conversion in as well as me running a Delica workshop showing a couple how to service and maintain their Delica properly in preperation for a round the world drive (estimated 40,000+ miles!!)
I'll be away on holiday for a week or so, but when I get back I hope to add some new photos of what we've been up to at Area 52 as well as details of the forthcoming playweekend.
Speak to you all soon ;D

Maybe there should be an initiation. I'm thinking something involving the Delica, ropes and the M5... ;D

Glad you're coming over Thomas. It should be a god weekend (plans being revealed when I get back from hols)

(this is the sort of thing id drool over) South Bristol People visit from all over the UK, from Ireland, Belgium, The Netherlands (Be great to see you, Thomas ) I'll let Bruce explain how the rest works as it isn't so much a case of turning up to work on your car, more turning up to join in with everything. From what I remember, next month is going to feature a fair bit of maintenance to the unit, for example
