it was my understanding that with a limited mileage insurance policy, someone would come out and check the mileage every year to check.
i rang adrain flux yesterday for a quote and ended up with one for a 7500 mile policy. i rang back today with the referance number and set the policy up. no one asked me for the mileage of the car or gave any mention of mileage.
is that normal?

No-one checks the mileage, you have to tell them what it is.

no, coz if you can do 7500, and your current milage is 50,000, but you tell 'em it 45,000, then you can do, 12,500, on a 7,500 policy, savvy

You'd need to tell them it's already on 55k to get 12500 miles for the price of 7500.
And you could only do it once.
And, technically you'd be underinsured (= no payout in the event of a stack / theft)

ill stick to being honest anyway. i originally wanted 6000 and they did 7500 (or 7000 i forgot already) so iv already got more than i want/need.

If you disconnect the speedo and the car gets smashed/ stolen would the insurance still pay out?

better yet, disconnect the speedo cable and do as many as you like. ;D A splendid plan. Only hindered by the 'russian roulette' you'd be playing against the GATSO's. And the guesswork required to keep up a regular servicing schedule. Other than that, go for it! ;D

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

(and now i think my brain has melted)

id imagine that it will be either screw in or push in at the back of the speedo itself. chances are he'll be able to reach under the dash. you can on most buggys ive looked at. thats when you find the dodgy wiring!
