Its not a Saab or a Citroen but it was cheap, its pretty nippy, and it stops me freezing me knackers off on the way to work. First modern car I've had in ages. Anyone got any pics? I need inspiration ;D ;D

Always liked those, neighbours daughters gave me lift to school in it all the time , seemed a fairly competent motor. Was treated with complete disregard too, yet kept motoring!

My boss used to have one of those. It was 100% a crock of wibblepoo. Hopefully it wasn't indicative of the range as a whole. Hmm.

I like the top one though, I think it has potential. I'm just gonna keep this as a runaround. As long as it doesn't go all french on me.

guz, its a renner 19. Is it the sporty go-fast '16v' version or has someone just fitted the wheels to a more normal version? These are to the Clio 16v what the 309GTi is to the 205GTi

the 19 16v aren't bad motors at all - typical french build quality so keep a screwdriver in the boot to reattach bits of trim when you get to your destination, but they're lightweight and the motor is pretty gutsy. most of all they have an image problem so they're cheap as, erm, a cheap thing. for a runaround you can do worse! only one i'd avoid is the diseasel, sounds horrible and i can walk faster.

Definitely one of the absolute dullest vehicles of all time, there really isn’t a single interesting feature to them at all. However for cheap warm reliable transport I’m sure they're quite acceptable.

hate them (no offence) a few years ago we accuired a 460GLE stepdad drove it once made a list of things that were wrong with it and needed doing emidietly....clutch starter motor suspension bushes and a piece of exhaust......at the end of the year at mot time we took it off the road having done nothing but put fuel in it......had a stack of EXPENSIVE spares he never fitted (he just doesnt like volvos) (oh we got the car for £150 with a years MOT) oh yeh had a lil accident an audi back into it crumpling the audi.no damage to the volvo. oh i parked a 2 ton truck on it.....no damage to the volvo so stepdad decides to by a diesel R19.......£650 a week later the water pump had gone, next week something else blew up on it, then needed a new gearbox, a new speedo cable, oh yeh he claimed it had better handling asnd better brakes than the volvo.......yet he crashed it through a fence writing it off , volvo would have driven away after going through a fence ;D anyway nice lil essay on why i don't like them but thats a 16v petrol is it not ? does the petrol version have a strut brace as standard?

My best mate has one and he hates it, the problem is the coil packs seem to degrade on later or ragged models. Plus they aint cheap to purchase, hopefully yours will be ok though buddy

Now thats what I'm talking about It is a 16V, complete with strut brace, but it needs a few bits to make it a nice car. I fixed the dash lights the other night and I've got a new rad and pair of balljoints to do tomorrow. I looked on retro renault and they've got loads of tech pages so that should come in handy I know a bloke who works in a renault breakers so I can get bits easy enough too.
