Right, when i was a wee lad, my mum had a 1986 mazda 323 1.6, she was a beaut of a car, (until she went through the hedge one too many times). Now i have never seen its like again and i've got a feeling it was a limited edition. now this is the closest likeness i have found to it... ...so if anyone knows of these, got any info at all, whether they are a bit of a rarity i'd love to know. Cheers

Try doing a search on this very site. Rmad started a thread a few weeks back about one he'd seen and I posted a few pic's I took from brochures.
You tend to see the 4x4 Turbo models advertised, but the normal ones just exist as everyday transport until suddenly we realise they've all gone.

I got one of them!!! ;D
Except mine isn't the 4x4 jobbie, just a 1300. Unbreakable cars!!
I've owned quite a few of the earlier version - slightly squarer - including a couple of lush 1500GTs.
I'd up a piccie but its dark and my digi cam is pants at the best of times...

Just cos something is good for you doesn't mean its good for everyone - for example Marmite does not make good Dog Food.

looking at the record, our old one obviously died in '99, is there any way to find out where it is now?

i would first like to appologise for the pic quality, they were taken with a phone, and the originals were bad too, but if this helps... it wasn't a 4x4 turbo, and i've been looking at the BF's, and they seem a bit narrow and square. EDIT: 2nd pic removed coz it was a whole lot of ass

IIRC there are a couple of versions, the later ones are a little rounder. the earlier ones look more alike to the MK1 323 (FA4) which were RWD. The late BF's look like a squared off BG 323

They arnt unbreakable, i personally have broken one (without crashing) . We bought one in OZ to drive up the east coast, it only just got there, we actually had to stop the traffic in cairns so i could take a run up for the car park ramp!

yeah, my mums managed to break 3 or 4 with the help of hedges, fences, trees, other cars... shes quite good at breakin 'em now ;D Sayin that she did that the 323 that started this thread through 6 different hedges before it was delared a write-off, then 12 months later we got a police notice to say i had been got by joy riders in saaaaafend, so she was quite a hard bi@ch, (the car, not me mum)
