The 405 turbo was called the T16 I think. But had nothing in common with the T16 rally cars.

One presumes T = Turbo and 16 = 16valves?
Was it a follow on from/ used basis of the Mi16?
I believe so. There was the Mi16 then the Mi16x4 and then the T16.
Peugeot called their Group-B 205 the T16 I think. The running gear was lengthened to accomodate bigger fuel tanks for the paris-dakar and they put a 405 shell on (later they used a Xantia one) and it became the 405 T16 rally car.
I believe the T16 was named after that car but had nothing in common other than the name. It was an Mi16x4 with a variable vane turbo giving 220bhp.
