What are these things worth? My mother-in-law has got one, she's had it for years. It's a 4x4 GTI in very good condition but yesterday she hit a bollard in it and has damaged the front wing - I haven't seen it yet but she's had a quote of around £300 to get it fixed. What are these super cool cars worth? Would it be worth her having it fixed or if she sold it as is, what could she expect to get for it? Spence

they're not very valuable i'm afraid. Is it the 16v? if so a 205 GTi kekker might buy it for 3 or 400 quid for the engine, not worth much more than that though. If it was a real minter you might find someone taken by its curiosity value that would pay a little more. However that doesn't stop them being super cool. Get it fixed!

Value woud be close to zero, you just can't offload these cars. You need to find someone that wants one and that's hard work. Selling it as it is you would effectively have to give it away, unless as mentioned you could find someone looking for an engine for their 205. Check here www.psooc.co.uk

GET IT FIXED! Those BX's are durable motors, provided the underframe hasn't rusted in some silly places they are easy and cheep to maintain (suspension/breaking system NOT a worry). Mechanically they were a great inprovement over the older 'GS' it replaced and better than the new 'Xantia' that replaced it. Citroen got it absolutley right with the BX. All the above is my opinion and experiance of course. I ended up looking after one for a relative (it was surplus to requirements because...you guessed he had trouble selling it ...so it was loaned to me for use providing I maitained it). Naturally I was a little wary of Citroen design etc, but in some cases it's far better and a pleasure it was to work on. Actually I improved the car due to my 'messing with it' so someone asked if it was for sale ...and it sold to a neighbour Good Car

From my experiance the 'French car specialists' are NO cheaper than a decent Motor Factors with regards to BX parts. But if it gets difficult try... www.citroenparts.co.ukIf anybody wishes to use them I would like to emphasise they are only really geared for 80's and 90'S cars, which the BX falls into nicely (so don't go enquiring for DS parts ;D).

NO
On the 'performace side' there was (to my knowledge/UK sold). BX 16V (1900cc 16V) BX GTi (1900cc 16V) BX GTi 4x4 (1900cc 16V) BX GTi 4x4 TURBO (1900cc 16V Turbo)
'16V' and 'GTI' was a bit off badge sales marketing '16V' is very rare, 'GTi' is common 'GTi 4x4' is common, as for GTi 4X4 TURBO it was common for one year(last year of BX production I think) !. 'GTi' is better finished than '16V'
There were also 'sport/ltd edition' lower powered variants and for French home market 'standard 4X4' only.

BX GTi Turbo! Never even heard of that one. Research reveals 200BHP. Thats got to be a performance bargain! A quick google throws up nothing much at all.

Citreon BX GTI TURBO dealers were seilling in 1993 at extreme dicount prices because Xantia was launched that year. Usually finished in a dark metalic green ('claimed' to be a limited colour run). Owner of local bus company in my town bought one brand new in 1993 when he retired from driving buses and openly admitted he got BX at discount price, also knew it's value would drop horrifically, but wasn't bothered as he said he was keeping it. And he did to, for he died in 2000

I'd have thought if there were any of these 16v turbo BX's in the UK, they must be the absolute holy grail for the 205 boys but i've never even heard of one!

if its up for sale, you should put it on here in the for sale section, its suitably leftfield that you might find a buyer amongst us lot.

Only problem I could see is you'd better check the seals in the caliper are compatible with normal DOT4 or 5 brake fluid because the BX brakes use LHM fluid.

Perhaps you are right but what I do know and remember is...
The car was sold by Citreon Dealer 'Westbury's' of Telford (who ceased trading 8 years ago) in Shropshire. Perhaps this dealer ship were involved with special limited imports then, but car was serviced and warranted by them. To my knowledge there were two colour schemes the one was Dark Met. Bottle green with red trim (which he had) and the other was pearl white with red trim.

Did the BX turbo get the variable vane turbo that the 405 got?

I'm afraid although I knew about the Turbo'd 16V 4X4 Citreon BX I never knew there was a Peugeot 16V 4X4 405 Turbo until mr Bo11ox kindly informed me.

The 405 turbo was called the T16 I think. But had nothing in common with the T16 rally cars.

One presumes T = Turbo and 16 = 16valves? Was it a follow on from/ used basis of the Mi16?
