axle is painted up and I have new shoes for the back.. just need cylinders and thrap it back together and bolt it in.. I'm hoping to borrow the work keys for this weekend... si I'm working till 12 on saturday dude.......could pop over to help lift it in

steve- carmad- I will ask if the guy has anymore.. ive got a few other people I can try too.. will see what I can find.... Me too man! I need an OHC axle for an impending engine swap on my viva wagon. If you know of any let me know!! Cheers.

well guys the bloke i got mine from prob has more but not sure if he will let any more go well not atm anyway.. got a few leads though so will keep my eye out for more... ok little update.. i havent used the care since axle snappage.. but last weekend i got undernieth a very rusty firenza and after rust and crud in my eyes and sore knuckles a scraped arm and much cursing.. i came back with a firenza axle complete with brakes/arms/antiroll bar.. this week at work at luckbreaks and any other time i could squeze.. i cleaned it down and gave it a lick of paint.. here is the arms painted in red oxide primer (well pink oxide really!) then black axle too.. hmm thats better,, shame i didnt have any before pics as it was quite nasty.. local shop from me had some new brake shoes.. and i unsiezed the brake adjusters and slave cylinders.. fitted new slave clips, new seals, new shoe ties, new brakelines, all new or reconned bolts. everythine desiezed sandblasted painted lubed and reassembled..... the only thing i didnt get time to do was recon the antirollbar.. with the help of my bruv and sleeperviva-steve i dropped out the nasty twig-like 1256 axle... but before removine it fully i took some gasser-stance pics... he he... sorry no "rebuilt axle shiny and bolted in" pics.. but it does look nice you will have to take my word for it.. and yes it drives much better with decent bushes shocks and an antiroll bar.. need lowering springs and adjustable shock on the back some poly bushes for the anti roll bar and the back is done... it seams to go ok too really.. a random bloke came over to me and siad it sounded awsome and offered me a dragrace up the trading estate.. i obliged.. but with lots of wheelspin i didnt stand a chance although it wasnt too shabby really he only had about 3 to 4 car lengths on me.. i suppose i cant expect more he was in a cateram/7/locost/robin hood thing.. no idea what was under the hood.. but it was cool.. oh axle broke was a exploding plannet gear.. look.. well thats my week.. si

the orig 1256/1159 axle that broke.. i could have just turned it into a "mig-spec" diff i suppose..
better gearing now also hopefully i reep the rewards of 50mpg motoring now... si

and I'm not trying to break the new axle far from it.. it will be treated to more new oil this weekend..
in other news..
i know i need to turn the boost fueling up a fair amount.. and with a only a bit of a tweek on the main fuel screw i didnt expect much.. but......
i dynoed it today.. i know it goes ok but at a guess i wasnt expecting much over 85hp from the feel of it but maybe secretly hoping for more...
ok so the graph tells me it need more fuel up top when on boost (and lack of any smoke there does too..) but 100hp and 140ftlb torque.....!!
I'm quite happy with that tbh.. bearing in mind it goes much better when it nice and warm (not just coolent temp fully heatsoaked warm) and it had no air going through intercoolerso prob 10hp down on actual driving hp..
and there is still loads of fuel to be added on boost.. i will have to turn up the fuel a bit more just as I'm curious.. but as it goes quite well as is.. i may just leave it where it is..
with 100hp and it sofar seams like 50mpg (although time will tell for more miles and an accurate calculation) its all that i wanted really. bassically i used the pinto as a benchmark.. for power b ut with better fuel econemy...
and ive achieved it..
so do i tune it more (more fuel maybe a bigger turbo?) or just be happy with it the way it is and keep it reliable as m y daily and not break more stuff???

You forgot to add you filled my workshop up with some thick black smoke whilst we were running it up on the dyno Si !! ;D All joking aside i too was suprised with the power output from this conversion i had a hand in & i will report back soon as to the "new" performance as i'm taking my 1st ride in it in the morning since the intercooler has been fitted & the fueling wound up a touch!! Well as promised i'm reporting back on the performance and to be honest its really suprising just how well it goes now after my ride to work this morning & i get to drive it first hand today as iv'e borrowed it from Si as i need to go into town at lunchtime & i can't wait to drive it either!! ;D Tim...

If it was jsut for playing i'd say go bigger turbo and more boost too but for a nice daily just turn the fuel up a bit more and leave it at that, if you get bored you can always do the rest later the thing is if i add the fuel it will be more powerfull. hence the reliability and fuel consumption issues.. its not like a petrol lean is fine and the more fuel i can burn the more power it will make.. the boost will make no differance on its own at all.. its just there so it can burn more fuel... as it has no taint of black smoke on boost at all then i know that it can burn more fuel hence more power.. either that or i just leave as is?? and craig yes the axle gearing makes a big differance i will have to drop by at some point anyway with that gearbox.. well i will when I'm not fixing the viva.. brake pads down to the metal is not good esp after a few days of driving! so thats my job for tonight if i get time if not i will be begging a lift to work again... si

i know diesel work like that, i'm jsut sayin give it more fuel until you're seein a small bit of smoke, it won't kill it, will just make it faster/ more powerful. No need to go mad turning it right up, but havin it make a bit of black at higher revs is no harm, not clouds of it, just enough to know it's gettin lots of fuel when on boost. It'll still be far more economical than a petrol engine with the same power. I wouldn't worry too much about reliability unless you start running serious boost and the fuel way up, then it'll be more down to your driving anyway whehter you kill it or not, depending on how much abuse you give it. I say find a middle ground, a bit more fuel just until it's giving a little bit of smoke on boost, then leave it as it is so you won't have to worry too much
