Ciao Retroisti....
Having bulit Hot Rods & Kustoms since the 70's I have of lately been totally worn out by all these imacualte Concept Rods built by the likes of Foose, Boyd, Tachdijian, Tracy, Trepanier and other guru-builder-types, these cars have IMHO absolutely NO soul, sure the craftsmanship is on level not even NASA can compete with and some cars have some insane non-linear thinking put into them but still they don't do much to me. I love to watch Rides, OCC, Monster Garage and those shows on the tube but it's not like I get that urge to go out in the shop and play with my wrenches, more like I need som Zanex & JD to calm me down from all the shouting & trowing stuff around but I could be wayy out there....
Some of the coolest Rods & Kustoms landed at The Grand National Roadster Show where ofcourse the Ridler Award winning Ken Reister’s Chip Foose-built ’36 Ford was the big thing but checking out what was on display the whole new Suede Palace just goes to show that the Billet-Big-Bucks-Rods are slowly loosing fotage on the show scene and a more down to earth movement is slowly forming....
Some of the ultra cool Kustoms on display....
There were some awesome Rods on display as well....
Ofcourse the latest craze of "Rat Rodding" was represented...
Personal favorites must be this nasty Gasser Toppolino.....
....the good reverend Billy Gibbons black 32 Hiboy....
...and this.....
The "Rat Rod" trend is catching on big time over here in Sweden, a bunch of cars last summer and more to come, Finland has always been doing this look on everything from a 32 sedan to an Opel Kadett so the 2006 Shows will be filled with these "things". I predict it will go fashion into this trend as well, Jesse James of West Coast Choppers has already done a Bug with painted on rust and I guess Boyd will roll out an oxidized all alu 34 Sedan pretty soon, we'll see.....
