Did anybody see the start when the camera 'flited' round the bronze Cortina? It showed an 'E' badge on the side panel to the roof but the grill shot showed a 'GXL' badge Surely this is not correct?

Yes, it was noted ( and commented on...) by me as well... but since (as has been pointed out before) it's a 'facelift' Mk3 , which wasn't around in '73 anyway, it hardly matters... There's a piece in the Radio Times saying that they wanted to use a Granada, but 'eagle eyed car fans' (their words) will have noticed it's a Cortina...FFS!!

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

Facelift, which is that?
Is that when 2000E replace GXL and had rectangular headlights?

Not sure, TBH... , Nightmare is your man for MK3 Cortina trivia (he was the one who pointed it out first, I think) I know that the dash was changed from the the deep set gauges to the 'MK4' style...

I saw same waving onlookers in a crowd scene near the beginning. And on a building note, some of the palisade fencing, replacement windows and portakabin things didn't really look right...... S'a funny thing about the Cortina isn't it? Someone had their heart in the right place by replacing the grille and lights with a GXL one. Wonder if they bought it or hired it? Given the abuse it gets you'd imagine bought. NickB, you used to watch Fist of Fun then as well? Anyway, who wants my Starlet to add some gritty realism to a 1980's drama?

A good point has been raised there. Has anyone else noticed when the do dramas set in the 60's, 70's and early 80's they only put British and European cars in and forget that Japanese cars were about then as well (and yes I DO include the 60's)!

Ha ha ha, I bet its sent ripples of scandal through their ranks! I bet they’ve sent a load of angry emails to the BBC slamming their ‘misrepresentation of this historically significant model’.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts
