Can anyone help please? the window got really stiff then fell inside the door. I can't get the door panel off. I've found the screws behind the handle and the poppers round the outside but I can't find how to remove the winder so that i can get the panel off.
If I can get inside I can rip off the foam bit then hopefully just put the windows back on the runners.
It's a P reg polo (not particularly retro but its my wifes car)
Thanks
Grae

from memory(which is'nt as good as it was!!) there just a "snap fit" as in it just snaps on! if you pull on the handle base, (were it fits to the winder) with a little bit of force and then use the end of a screwdriver to just lightly prize the inner part of the winder handle,it should come of.. hope that makes sense?!!

don't know if it helps but this is the same type of door cards: i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff146/big4244/DSC01206.jpgits a P reg, ive tried levering it with a screwdriver. theres a plastic ring behind the handle that looks like it goes all the way round, i cant see any fixings anywhere. I might just keep prying with a screwdriver, if it breaks tey should be fairly cheap from a scrapyard.

They should be like this: You pry away the plastic part from the metal (it just clips over the top), and underneath there's a phillips head screw securing the winder.

try sliding the ring away from the knob you hold? that's how they come off on the same year golf? took me ages to suss it out, no tools just pull the ring away from the shaft leading to the knob? it slids but doesn't come out or fall off.

Middle of the winder handle should pry off revealing a screw The ones in that picture are Mk1/T25 handles but the princible is the same. Pop the trim off and there is a screw.

Now i have another problem. on other cars ive had this problem with there is a runner with little plastic wheels that slip off the runner making the window drop down. On this polo there are 2 black metal uprights. when i wind the handle a grey plastic clip goes ups and down each one. These have a square peg that fits into a square hole in a metal plate attached to the glass. The only problem is that it doesn't seem to be a very secure fit. they just fit over and slip on and off. Should these clip in, i cant see well enough to see if anthing has broken off them. If something has broken i might superglue a piece of plastic over the end so that they can slip off unless there is a better way. I am struggling to do much with it as the access is so awkward and small.
