Over the next few weeks my Tolly is being given some steroids. An engine swap is out the question this year, so tuning the Dolomite Sprint lump. Balanced bottom end, ported head, high lift cam and Twin Dellortos ;D Once done I want to take it to someone who knows how to get the best out of the car on a rolling road. Anyone got any recommendations for someone who still works on carbs, within 100 or so miles of London? Have a pic of a Competition 2 door Toledo for your troubles -

Track & Road in Rainham just off the A13 are very good, used em a few times as have a quite a lot of my mates, they have a nice single roller set up that doesn't suffer from traction issues as all the cars weight is on top of the roller.
Old school carbs and tuned engines no problem for them either, they deal with everything form hot mk1 escorts to prototype Nobles.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

I was recommended these guys a little while ago. I'm yet to go but have spoken to them and they sounded just the right sort to deal with SUs and Megajolt.. www.atspeed.00go.com/index.html

Another vote for Track & Road. Always were very good to me the many times I went down there with my S12

The pictures on their Home page are just weird. Kind of remind of those joke books you can get 'Roundabouts of Great Britain' etc. Why would the access lane to your workshop warrant a photo on your website Still, I will contact them so thanks for the tip. Thanks for all suggestions so far guys, a few options there.

Why would the access lane to your workshop warrant a photo on your website Probably because the shop is in the high street and doesnt have access across the pavement! Access is via the rear of the shop. I havent used them for years, but they have tuned Dolly Sprints, Jags and FIATS with twin 40 Delortos in the past (80s) for me. BTW you shouldnt measure someones work by their website!

BTW you shouldnt measure someones work by their website! Thats very true, unfortunately you often have nothing else to go on, adverts, web sites, prices all influence how you decide where to go for your services, if your gonna have a web site, have a good one.

n They are local to me and a few times that I called, I got the feeling that 1) they were not interested as soon as carbs were mentioned and 2) very expensive Please let me know if your experience is to the contrary !

I couldnt agree more, but a lot of the good old tradesmen are popular by demand so don't need to advertise, and this website lark is seen as a black art by them ;D. Most decent websites are by mainly newer enterprises who have something to prove, they may be excellent in their own right, but may not be the best person to fiddle with carbs But yes a clean easy to navigate website is a must in this day n age without question

IMO arguably the best person for SU Carbs/Webbers etc. is Peter Baldwin in Royston if you can travel the distance. In old Mini circles (and some current) he is held in very high regard. I'd take the opportunity on the basis that he can't be that far off retiring (he's been doing it for years now). www.wilshers-garages.com/
