Hi all Well as I'm traveling around NZ I'm currently looking for a van to live/cruise in! I'm Looking at either a Toyota hiace or a Nissan Homy type thing but I may want to have a little play while I have it! I wont be doing anything expensive like the big winged crazy J vans (I know your all thinking of those lol) but I'm after some more subtle Retro/Shankotan styled ones thats a bit more realistic. Maybe just a (Hand/roller) paint job and some rims but I need inspiration! It wont be the new ones (AS IF I WOULD lol) so 80s ones please!! Go on, what ya got ;D Ill start.............. Ok a bit small bit its still inspiration............

nice hiace calamity, tax exempt too have you a readers ride thread for your vans? Thanks, I like yours too. Are those wheels original? I don't have a thread as I've had others do the welding, paint and trimming so not much I can say about it. My input's been limited to a bit of carpentry, spannering and tracking down hard to find bits for it. I saw a drawing of a 15 seater in a Toyota brochure. Didn't realise they actually made any tho. How good a camper would that be? I caught a glimpse of a green and rusty one of these parked up locally last year, but not seen it since. Nice lot of photos on this thread! Here's a period ad: (His brakes are evidently a bit better than mine.)

Mines on stock steelies painted red with the addition of chrome trim rings Been hunting yahoo.jp blogs tonight and found some more inspiration (if you hadn't already had enough!) 'Garage Matchbox' seem to specialise in restoring boxy jvans from this: to this: hiace on watanbees excellent tow truck this one seems to have been resparied in its original brown with with the addition of metal flake!
