Bought this after a conversation with my old man on the drive up the country to pick up a car my sis had bought...he mentioned one of his mates had a merc that he 'would proberley sell on'- an original Irish car, didnt think it was much to get excited about given the fact that a lot of these are 'very basic' bought new; a bland 190E with the hubcaps is what I envisaged when he discribed it to me, and I took a disinterest when he said we may as look at it the following day (me with a 'small hangover), but despite having be sat up for a good while, I liked what I saw (with the AMG kit), and said 'id proberly have it' despite the battery being flat and so not hearing it run; paid a deposit to 'secure it', FFWD 3 weeks the old man was down here on another mission, so I secured a lift up the 110 miles (or so) to Longford, after gathering up the balance of the sellers asking price, paid him, drank coffee while the batterey 'reneweded itself' and sat off for home, once the insurance cover was arranged via 30min phone call to an indian call centre- 18 mins on hold/8 mins repeating myself/4 mins discribing the car and the lenght of cover....
As bought/driven home-all grimey...
Cleaned the following day...
...a moderate level of flogging for an original Irish car; low mileage for a car that age here...
Ive always liked the shape of these, so when the opportunity presented itself I decided to have it; middle box/down pipe is very noisey-two 'breaks in it', fan heater don't work and theres some 'clonking' in the rear, and prev. owner was selling to buy a box van for the addition of two more dogs-he obviously had the one he has in this 'once or twice' -it might need replacing and is generally the only thing that lets the side down... out of test a year, so needs tested... unsure if it'll be a fleeting love affair, or a more longterm anchor...in the fortnight 'hunnymoon period' of buying a car just now lol
