just wondering how much everyone spends of their cars. 1 how much on average do you buy your cars for? 2 how much do you spend doing them up? (if you don't mind me asking ) it seems wierd what awesome cars you can get for relatively (compared to modern cars) little money

Anglia cost £850 a few years ago. Probably spent about a grand in total including tools so far. Don't have much more to do, probably a few hundred more absolute maximum.

The most I have ever spent on a single car is £2000 for an S13 silvia in 1999 and most after that is £1700 for a 1998 Frontera in 2004.
I spend between £400 and £500 every month on parts for cars though ;D Although so far this month I have spent £850 on a Land Rover Discovery and a further £600+ on parts. Plus I have to get two tyres and a starter motor for my Isuzu Trooper on Monday.
No wonder I am always skint ;D

my old golf cost £200, and i spent about the same again on suspension etc. the benz cost £800, and ive spent about £300 on rims and suspension the 411 was £410 (which i paid half) and have spent a total of about £25 on a roofrack! Thats the only good thing about welding, it is at least cheap!! ;D the beetle cost £3000 for the original car and then the new shell, and ive spent a salary on it. The car isnt about money though, and i stopped counting long ago ....

My XR4x4 cost me in the region of £8K in the end.
Yes I have learn't my lesson and yes I am still paying for it, I was an idiot.
I know of 'cruisers' £3500 for just TPFT insurance.
My XR4i owes me around £3K and my Honda Prelude around £1500.

The most I have ever spent on a single car is £2000 for an S13 silvia in 1999 ! What did you do with it? I love the S13 Silvia, it's one of my fave designs of car ever. As for me, 2 grand for car, 2 grand for insurance, few hundred for parts, quite a lot for cleaning stuff.

Depends. My BMW was the best I could find (and strangely also one of the cheapest!), as I didn't want to be saddled with some rusty relic. I've given up counting up how much it's cost me though. Probably at least double the original purchase price All the 'refugees' that pass through my hands are always 'bargains'.... cheap as chips! I also tend to a 4-year old ex-fleet motor every 3 years or so for everyday domestic duties. Sure you take a bit of a hit on depreciation, but less than £3k buys a fully historied, usually immaculate car that you know will give zero hassle. Losing £1500 on them over 3 years is nowhere near as bad as losing £7000 in the first 4 years if you buy new .

I paid £375 for the Sceptre over 4 years ago, at a guess I've spent maybe £750? on it over the years. The Rambler was was £1750 ( the most I've ever paid, before that it was £850 on a 7 year old MK2 Cav...) and I've spent about £250 on it so far. The Skoda was £495 just over 2 years ago, probably spent about £325? on it... including service items, so still cheap motoring, IMHO... The Astra was £450 nearly 2 years ago, at a guess we've spent less than £200 on it, again including service items... see comment above...

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

950 quid for me car....Musta spent at least 1000 on it over 2.5 years, excluding tax and insurance. Not too bad I guess, seeing as the garage does most the MOT work as I'm usually not around ;D
Sprint was 500 quid for the car, and 30 quid for an MOT ;D
