...seen this around?: its on ebay at the moment and i was thinking about bidding. the guy is on holiday (apparently) so viewing cant be arranged. the guy has good feedback and its cash on delivery so the buggy must exist. even if its a bit of a duffer its not too bad since its cheapish

just seems a bit fishy since hes had a few complaints about cars not being as described. although hes had equal amounts of pleased customers who have bought cars

if thats what was refered to by needing a rocker casket recently then its easy as pie! The rocker covers will likely be stock clip ons, so you only need to take a new gasket with you My own thoughts are that for £2k i'd want to check it out - and it would want to be MINT!

now i se where the casket came from. personally i wouldnt pay 2k for it. gaskets on dubs are a piece of pi$$.all you need is a big screwdriver to release the big clip. *unless they have aftermarket bolt on covers

i thought 2k was cheap for a beach buggy? iv seen some go for up to 3-4k

its not cheap. don't get me wrong, its not extortionate either. If i was spending £2k i would want it to be perfect - is that one on ebay perfect in your eyes? Ones that go for £3k upwards typically have bigger engines, uprated brakes etc etc

i wouldnt say it was perfect. pretty close though, lower rollbar and thats about it. i havent put my bidsnipe much higher than 2k anyway, i have *ahem* limited cash

well if its that close to what you are looking for then it could be just the ticket! Having read his neg feedback i would check the car over closely before paying - make sure it is as described, and that it is all ok. With the body being fibreglass you should be pretty safe there, but go over the chassis closely. Then you just need a 1776 and a break bias adjuster and you're ready for some summer fun! ;D

i don't mind if its a little rough around the edges. as long as its drivable and will stay that way for a few years I'm cool. and speed isnt that important to me anymore. iv already crashed once, i sure as hell don't want to do it in a buggy edit: anyone know what buggies are like to insure? I'm thinking limited mileage, anyone know what miles would be sensible?

i know what you're saying - but volkswagens have a tendancy to hide nasty surprises, so do have a good poke about i'll give you 6 months before you want something bigger than a 1300! ;D it will be interesting to see how you get on with insurance, i havent a clue. In theory, it might even be still regisitered as a beetle? As for mileage, surely you would have the best idea to the mileage you're gonna do?

well iv only been driving about a year so i have no idea how many miles i cover in a year normally so i don't have much to go on. i was just wondering if anyone else has limited mileage insurance on this type of car (good weather only, weekend fun) and what they do so i have a guide.
according to a search i did its a red vw saloon (beetle i assume) that will have to be updated i guess
if theyres anything that looks a bit dodgy ill probably back out, screw the negative feedback. minor things ill forgive since i like the idea of a bit of a project.
thanks for all the help by the way. just realised iv been a bit ungreatful ;D

well i would guess you would be fine for limited mileage of 3500-5000ish. i would make some enquiries about how the car is registered. Maybe someone on here will know or call the DVLA. I would be worried that you would then face the SVA test, and maybe be forced to have a Q plate. Even worse, it might fail the SVA test for some reason. The other option is just to keep the buggy registered as a beetle and say nowt.... no prob mate, you're welcome
